Check engine & tcs light, and O2 sensor

Back story;
I took my 2001 tl in to get a new power steering pump and headlight ballast the other day and when I got back in the check engine light as well as the tcs light were on. I had the mechanic read the problem and he said it came up as on O2 sensor failure. He looked at it and said it was plugged in and he doesn't know why it would have come on because they never touched it and I may have just had some weird timing for it to go bad. He turned off the warning and said to brig it back if it came back on and that also turned off the tcs light, but after 5 minutes of driving they both came back on. So I guess I'm going to get a new O2 sensor.

Questions;
Should I be concerned about the tcs light coming on and not turning off when I try to change it manually? And is it ok to drive on for a week until I can get the problem taken care of? Also if you have any experience working on this is it something I might be able to do at home or is it better to just let the mechanic do it? Thank you so much for any response or help!

You're fine to drive with the TCS light. You just won't have any traction control if you get stuck on snow/ice/gravel/etc. Get that O2 sensor replaced and see if the problem goes away. Note that the ABS module is near the P/S pump - check and make sure they didn't damage it when they were doing the pump. Did they replace the P/S belt when they did the pump?

Thank you so much! I didn't have them change the p/s belt. But I will look into the abs module and if it is undamaged I will attend to the O2 sensor as soon as possible

I don't know how your CEL light came on after a power steering replacement. I've completely ripped mine out and no CEL comes on. Get that O2 sensor replaced for sure. Spend a few minutes under under the hood and make sure that nothing is "unplugged". Could just be faulty connection on one of the sensors.

DENSO brand O2 sensor- came as factory unit-= available everywhere for cheap
Dont let them put in Bosch or other nonsense part!!!!
Its fairly easy job, most ziners would DIY it
The FRONT O2 sensor- bank 1 is what the code shows when it fails

are you using 91 octane gas only?!

PS pump BELT TENSION is set looser than most types- if they over-tighten it = the pump will die very soon!!! no kidding!!!
Have them ck that and verify it is at Honda spec- not what tech thinks is right!!!

Never trust anyone working on your car!!
these guys are obviously NOT TL specialist~

What did they use for a ballast? most here scrap the stock parts and install aftermarket kit with 2 new ballast, igniters and bulbs- for less than cost of OE ballast!!
