I have the 2018 TLX 2.4 w/ 8 speed DCT

I see the manual says anywhere from 30,000-60,000 miles

I’ve had the car for almost 3 years now, but I only have 26k miles on it.....I do a mix of city and highway driving

I don’t drive a ton of miles, but it has been nearly 3 years

How often do you guys change this fluid, is it important for the life of the trans?

 

Definitely change the fluid regularly if you value your transmission. How often is another question. Even if you are on the safe side and do it every 30000 miles, that's like once every 3 or 4 years for you.

 

do you have any idea how to check the trans fluid? Is there a trans dipstick

Or is there another way to check the fluid in the TLX?.....I can only locate the engine oil dipstick

And does the system tell you when to change the transmission fluid, like how it does with the Oil?

 

 

What benjaminh posted should be in the manual (as well as some extreme-driving exceptions to the schedule posted).

 

Well your transmission fluid is as important as your engine oil. I would not wait till it needed to be changed a little early won't hurt your car but will increase the life of your transmission. I know dealer mentioned that change it every 30K miles but say you change it on 20K or 25K it will have a good impact on your car rather than negative. Hope this help.
