3X3 transmission flush

Can someone please tell me how many miles between the 3X3 transmission fluid change and how much time versus mileage.

Why create a new thread with the same topic as the one from last week? Now there is just one more to search through.

The manual says to change the transmission fluid after 60k miles and then every 30k, but it does not mention that a 3x3 change is necessary. It only says, "Replace transmission and transfer fluid." I personally think 60k is too long for the first change, and I did mine at 40k. If you use the guide as a worst case and possibly change sooner, you will be fine. Like rlerman said in you other thread, change the fluid every other oil change, ~15k, and you will effectively be doing a 3x3 every 45k.

I don't think there is a rule of thumb for life span, but I would venture to guess no more than 5 years. Here is some good info: http://autos.yahoo.com/maintain/repa...ques123_0.html

Just had my trans fluid changed today at the Acura dealership. Did the 3X3 flush which turned out to be the 4X4 flush using 12 quarts of trans fluid. Now since I have a solid baseline of new fluid to start I will do the drain and fill every 2 years. They only charged me $213.00 including tax.

Did they take the car down, run it through all 5 gears, and lock the torque converter between fills?

For $213... I highly doubt it... It takes more than an hour + parts to do a proper 3x3....

Me thinks so too. If so, they just poured $100 of OP's money down the drain.

Yes they did. They put it up on the lift about 2 feet in the air and they run it through the gears with the tires off of the ground. I actually watched as they did it. It took one hour and they charged me $110.00 accordingly for the labor. The same tech always works on my car and we constantly talk about PM. He has 35 years experience. Started out as a Honda tech and then transferred when the Acura brand started. He says that I should wait and do the timing belt at 105,000 ($1100.00) and a valve adjustment is not needed. I told him that my engine sounded loud with clicks and after listening he said that the noise I am hearing is the clicking of the injectors which is normal. He also said that he has never seen a second generation RL with a transmission problem and has quite a few that he works on with over 200,000 miles currently on the clock.

That's good that they ran it through the gears. If the clicking is at idle and can be heard a low RPMs in 1st gear, it is probably your purge solenoid. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/legend-%2Aclick%2A-849809/

That's also not a bad price for a 3x3 considering a regular flush will probably run you close to $100.

The clicking can only be heard at idle with the car in park or neutral.

I bet it's your purge solenoid, especially if it's RPM dependent.

Can somebody please post a pic of the actual purge solenoid so I can replace the valve myself. I checked some past threads and the picture is no longer available. Thanks.

I suppose you didn't read the link I supplied. Changing the part will likely result in the same noise. It is not a bad part; it's just noisy.

This problem is well documented at least i thought it was) in the 2G TL section here

OK thanks cause it really does not bother me. Can't hear it inside the car due to the Bose noise cancelling system.

That is awesome - they let you watch vs. the "only employee only" message...

Actually the station that my particular mechanic works at is directly across from the service advisors glass enclosed office so I sit and shoot the crap with my service advisor and watch the tech work on my car.
