Question Attempt at an OEM JDM Grill...

So I got all the part numbers needed from the diagram and check what I found. The part numbers needed coinside with other Honda models and are available locally in NA at a fraction of the cost. Not sure how reliable this is but the part numbers match up exactly. Problem is I dont have a diagram so I dont know what it looks like, but the name matches up. So heres the break down;

Diagram

So I searched for each part individually and found that a particular dealer/site has everything needed. www.HondaPartsNow.com and www.AcuraPartsNow.com have everything needed to assemble the grill at 1/2 the cost that It would cost coming from over seas and about 2/3 of the price that people sold thiers for. Take a look below

Parts I need with the prices

1 71121SJA000ZB(71121-SJA-000ZB) BASE, FR. GRILLE *NH623M* £352.97 (€402.39) $257.29
1 71121SJA000ZC(71121-SJA-000ZC) BASE, FR. GRILLE *NH83M* £352.97 (€402.39)
2 71122SJA000(71122-SJA-000) MOLDING, FR. GRILLE LOWER £84.96 (€96.85) $75.45 (Acura Parts Now)
5 71125SJA000(71125-SJA-000) MOLDING, R. FR. GRILLE UPPER £45.52 (€51.89) $44.64
6 71126SJA000(71126-SJA-000) MOLDING, L. FR. GRILLE UPPER £45.52 (€51.89) $44.64
10 71129SJA000ZA(71129-SJA-000ZA) BASE, FR. EMBLEM (H) *NH623M* £64.08 (€73.05) $55.06
10 71129SJA000ZB(71129-SJA-000ZB) BASE, FR. EMBLEM (H) *NH83M* £64.08 (€73.05)
14 75700S9AG00(75700-S9A-G00) EMBLEM, FR. (H) £22.06 (€25.15) ($35.30) $5.28
15 90301ST0003(90301-ST0-003) NUT, PUSH, 3MM £1.73 (€1.97) ($2.77) 002 $1.12
20 93903422J0(93903-422J0) SCREW, TAPPING, 3X10 £2.09 (€2.38) ($3.34) 011 $3.46

The parts in Red were not found but I dont think I need. If I piece togeter it would cost $486.94. Japan told me it would cost over $1000 and NA importers are saying about $1200. I think this is worth a shot. The part Im really worried about is part number 1. I havent seen any honda's that have the same base grill. Do you think Japanese and NA part numbers would completely differ? All parts are manufactured overseas right? That would be a bad company move but not imposible. Another concern I have is that I have an Elite edition with CMBS so my grill has the sheild and I havent seen a JDM grill that has the sheild. Is this a lost cause? Anyone wanna weigh in?

Can you tell I really want the JDM Grill?!?

I think number 1 is fine. Number 9 looks like it may be you ACC shield.

I dont think so. This is the shield Im talkinga bout...

Part number is 75710-SJA-A01ZA and retails for $300+. Check the difference below. I haven't seen a EDM or JDM version with it. Could it be...something we have that they dont... See difference below (#18)

There are members in this forum that have the EU Legend with options such as LKAS on 05 models so I think that they also have ACC. Maybe they can weigh in, possibly with pics of the sheild?

JDM grill on the RL makes the front look like a honda odyssey, maybe the odyssey grill could be used?

The Legend definitely has ACC and CMBS. IIRC, the shield is for ACC. The CMBS unit is behind the grill.

I am pretty confident that this is the Legend ACC shield.

And this is the non-ACC emblem.

the first is clearly encased in plastic, and the second isn't.

I see...I think I am going to try it. I cant find anyone here selling theirs and my friends in Japan or Europe either cant find it or its ridiculously expensive. I am going to get in touch with a couple dealerships that have these parts. I've found 3 so far. Who knows, could be a good outcome.

Its no use. I think this dream is dying slowly. I called Honda Parts Now and the site lists the part, however they do not carry it. They don't have it in stock and cannot order it because its showing in the system as a part from over seas and they do not have access. I doubt Tim would have access. Back to waiting for someone to sell...

I was lucky to find a set on ebay before. But I know if its brand new, its not cheap. I was quoted $540 back in 2008.

Pieces I was quoted was:
#1, #2, #3, #5, #6, #7, #8 #10, and #14.

Refer to your original JDM Grille diagram.

Those are the pieces I'd need? I wouldnt mind paying $540 but the quotes Im getting are stupid...like $1200 and $1300. I cannot find anything anywhere. Not even scrapyards in japan or europe. Im at the point of fabricating my own damn grill.

Cant you unsell yours and sell it to me? haha

Just got off the phone with OptionsAuto and they wont even bother to look haha. Says he hasnt seen one in a while and doubts he'll see one haha. I think Im going to just throw a CRV Emblem over the one in the front. Bootleg, but better than nothing.

I think $1200 is or might be that ACC shield. Does your RL equipped with that pieces?

I have that damn sheild. Dont get me wrong, love having the Elite with all the options, but finding good JDM parts is a beast. If I cant find the grill, my plan is to cover the part of the sheild showing the 'A' with black vynl and then throw a CRV 'H' Emblem over top. They are roughly the same size and will have to do until I can find the grill. Let me know if you have any luck. I'd appreciate it greatly.

Finally got the JDM Grill. (weak pics)

(My initials are CR so I decided to keep the C and the R haha.)

My side underspoilers are on, havent gotten around to the front or back yet. Still need to put on the Honda center caps also.

Next up, Aspec suspension, shaved callipers and a Honda airbag...

The Shield is just an emblem with more substance (Heavier). Nothing substantial which kinda pisses me off because its so damn expensive.
The parts needed were;

1 71121SJA000ZB(71121-SJA-000ZB) BASE, FR. GRILLE *NH623M* £352.97 (€402.39) $257.29
2 71122SJA000(71122-SJA-000) MOLDING, FR. GRILLE LOWER £84.96 (€96.85) $75.45
5 71125SJA000(71125-SJA-000) MOLDING, R. FR. GRILLE UPPER £45.52 (€51.89) $44.64
6 71126SJA000(71126-SJA-000) MOLDING, L. FR. GRILLE UPPER £45.52 (€51.89) $44.64

If you're anal, 7 and 8 also. I used the existing ones which are not an exact fit but fit enough for me. The Cover (#3) isnt an exact fit but Im going to get another usdm one and modify it but simply trimming the tabs

I'm not sure I follow you. The shield has a purpose, no? Isn't it a required part of the ACC system?

Negative! Well the purpose I guess is to protect the CMBS unit. It plugs into nothing. So take a look at #9 (Non CMBS versions) and #10 (CMBS versions)in the diagram. #10 has a hallow flat back and weights about 2-3lbs. #9 the back is not hallow and has screw holes for the emblem, which is the only part of it that makes it non universal. If you cut out the backing of #9 you could use it on CMBS version. the difference in the front is the CMBS version, the eblem is ebeded in like a clear plastic where as the Non CMBS eblem is just an emblem like the rear emblems? Kinda like the NA version except the CMBS on the NA ver has that wierd looking plastic shield (which is all one peice). Make sense?
