I stand corrected re trims. Went to my dealer today and it happened they had just received delivery of two 4 cylinder ASPEC TLXs, one in Tech trim and 1 in Elite trim. Very nice in person, in both the white and red colours. Lots of good points above about engine choices, although I don't agree that Acura advertises cars any differently than most Auto Manufacturers - visions of the Tuscon roaring through the dessert. Any car, with todays direct injection engines can cruise comfortably at 75 -90 miles per hour, including my little old 206 HP engine. Anyhow, it's nice to see Acura providing choices to both 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder customers.
No doubt, they will succumb and boost the power for the full redesign in 2020, although I am not sure in our ever more crowded streets and highways, why people need bigger and bigger engines. Keeping up with the Jones gone wild, perhaps. Personally, I would rather pay for tech, handling and comfort than the premium for a bigger engine.

The Giulia is a beast. I love that car, too bad it's unreliable . Even the test cars they gave magazines were breaking down. I would only want the Quadrifoglio if I did get one, but I just don't trust the reliability at all.

It's heartbreaking because it's the best car in its class. I'd be driving one now if it weren't for that.

Yeah well they advertise the car like it's a 400 HP monster so I see it more as them trying to pass off the car as something it's not. The M Sport and F Sport Packages don't adverse in commercials like the Acura. Acura TLX commercials are like Giulia commercials without the looks or performance.
I get where you are coming from but I don't think judging by horsepower figure is the way to go man. By that the logic VW had made very little progress with the GTI too as the 2006 GTI makes about 200hp, and the new 2017 GTI also makes around 200hp.
It's stunningly beautiful too. But other than reliability concern, from my experience at the autoshow, the rear space is incredibly cramped compared to a F30 3 series, and its material quality is below par.

Clarkson said it best: It's brilliantly flawed, like an Alfa should be. I absolutely love it.

Since you are asking so nicely, I don't hate the A4, I find it nicely put, built but dull. You'll realize that soon, as some others did here.
The Alfa is dead-on-birth. No success. Since you are obviously now an Honda/Acura hater, if I were you I would put my faith more in the Jag XE, available in a sweet 6, of course.
Oh I can see the future. After whining about the lack of quality of your A4, you will be back to Acura and I will be back to a "Bimmer".

Just an update i went to another dealer and without too much negotiating I got them to around 570 but they want $3100 on delivery which to me is still far too much. (4yr -24k km)
Also I did have a chance to see a white tech aspec in person and the back in great, it has a very sporty look. The front looks good but it may need a little time to grow on me some more.
I would be curious to know if any Canadian Buyers purchased one yet and if so at what price?

I don't think at this point in the product life cycle they were interested in fully requalifying the car for the EPA. Nice body kit or sheet metal tweak & the were good to go. Their prior experience with that the TL-S might have slowed the erosion but did not stop it.

I know its Canada & there is a penalty on the exchange rate but my being retired 435 was $63K MSRP. Got a good discount & with 7 extra security deposits (fully refunded at the end of the lease) + $2500 on delivery my monthly was $556.00

Haha, yea, there's a huge penalty on the exchange rate man. In the US, the base 440i sdrive starts at USD$48.7k. In Canada, it starts at CAD$56.4k.
A fully loaded 440i sdrive is USD$60k, and it's CAD$75k in Canada. In this case, that's a 25% difference. Adding 25% to $556/month would be $695. And that's before taxes. In Ontario, Canada, where the OP is from, I believe tax is 13%, which brings us to about $785..

Just read on another TLX forum that the MSRP in Canada is $51,000 for a A-Spec V6... You can buy a Q50S RS400 for $52,600 that comes with a twin-turbo V6 with 400HP and 350TQ, legit big brakes all around, and a proven smooth shifting 7 speed. For 1600 more that's a pretty easy decision, hell the Q50S Silversport with just about all the same equipment but detuned to 300hp is even less at $48,600. Don't get me wrong that doesn't include all the safety equipment that Acura Watch offers but still...

TLX A-spec Tech AWD: CAD$49.5k including destination fee
TLX A-spec Elite AWD: CAD$53.2k including destination fee
The Q50 Red Sport AWD starts at $54.6k including destination fee.
Now, add the following options to match the TLX:
Driver Assistance Package - $2k
Technology Package - $3.8k
Design Package - $1850
Deck lid spoiler - $425
Total: $62.7k
It's important to have an apple to apple comparison. Chances are, people opting for the TLX probably care more about having all those features. And at close to $10k difference, it's not small change IMO. With that said, I believe Infiniti is doing $4-$5k off now?

Here in LA, if Edmonds can be believed, they're discounting the Q50 model that best aligns with the TLX-Aspec by a whopping $8,500. I'm extremely doubtful that Acura dealers can hold to MSRP for more than a month. They got a nice car, but the competition is brutal.

BTW, I just noticed that they charge $54 for SH-AWD emblem...what the hell is this now!?!?

It all depends what someone values. Personally, I see no value in the Acurawatch stuff. I've been driving for 15 years without it, I don't see why I need it now. In fact, it takes driver focus and control out of the driver's hands. Just another step closer to autonomous vehicles, which I'm sure many would love, but for me- no thanks.
I cant help but think that with all these nannies, we are making drivers lazier. Why shoulder check anymore? The car does it for you. Etc.
But I guess that is why some choose the Infiniti and why some choose the Acura. I'm not about to go put a big brake kit on my car, or turbo the engine. I'd want it like that from the factory. I also don't need a spoiler or Acurawatch as it doesn't enhance my driving experience. On the other hand, some people could care less about big brakes and big(ger) power. Their kids are starting to drive and they want them to be as safe as possible.
At least the beauty with the Infiniti is, if you do want the nanny stuff, you can pay for it. You can't get the big brakes and more powerful engine with Acura though. At least not yet. Maybe the 2G TLX will have something in store.

I think the obvious conclusion from the above debate is that car companies have to play to their perceived market niche. For Acura, that does seems to be having a good all around car which will appeal to a broader spectrum of buyers. I think, based upon numerous reviews regarding the 2018 TLX, they have taken a step forward in that regard. Of course, actual sales will tell the tale. So now that the Canadian and US websites have all the info, a few things caught my eye:
- tIn Canada, he prices for similar trim levels are $300 more than the 17s. Seems very reasonable given all of the positive changes.
- In Canada, even without a non-SH-AWD 3.5 version, there are now 10 different options - Base, Tech, Tech ASpec, Elite, and Elite ASpec for both the 2.4 and 3.5. That is a lot of choice and certainly addresses the angst about not having all the Elite features with the ASpec.
- US also has options, but 4 of those relate to having a 3.5 without SH-AWD. Just two options for the 4 cylinder crowd - Base and Tech. This is somewhat consistent with generally higher sales of 4 cylinder cars in Canada (The Honda Civic is perennially the highest selling car in Canada).
- Just a note that in comparing trim levels, the 3.5 SH-AWD version is always $5,200 more than the equivalent trim on the 2.4. As always, it's a question of priorities.

You should technically match it to the Q50 S with 300HP. No way the TLX will ever get that much. So it's no longer a 10k different, more like 5k. But you get a turbo, bigger brakes, etc. Stuff that you don't get in a TLX. And 50k for a Tech TLX is kind of pricey (Aspec is just glitter, not much difference to regular one). Much more likely to get true luxury at that price.

I think some people do want to stay N/A for that linear engine response.
Based on reviews thus far, I think there are enough changes made to the A-Spec for a much improved driving experience.
Those look like black/dark gray emblems?? Aren't they silver normally? Haha, I'd just plastidip them.

No idea for emblems, just find it very weird. Both should be the same color anyways lol
What DOES upset me is that I can't get the blue with red interior, and that unlike the US I have to get the top trim for ventilated seats. So I'm looking at 53.5K for just a little more sportiness. An A4 configured the way I want (Technik, S Line, adaptive suspension) is around 57K (+ 1K for heads up display, which I like as well). Acura has passed the 50K barrier, people no longer look at it as a smart buy since many other models have discounts now. It's getting close now to the point where people with the funds just put the difference and call it a day.

Haha it's always been an Acura issue - that you can't build the car to be exactly what you want.
I agree, once you hit the $50k mark, then people would be thinking about other models psychologically. For sure, if others are offering discounts, and Acura dealers and standing firm, I don't think they will get much business.
If one can get that TLX A-spec Elite AWD for like $47k or something, then it would be a decent car for the money.

Oh I agree the TLX should be compared to the Q50 300hp model instead of the Red Sport. Wreak was mentioning the Red Sport, and I was just replying to him.

Real exhaust sound of the Aspec (~4min mark), sounds exactly the same as mine. As for features vs price, still not blown away. Marketing worked though since many are going to dealers for aspec test drive, but I wonder how many actually buy them. Would love some feedback for transmission in non-sport+ mode.

It's that kind of fast.
It also comes on class leading, 19 foot diameter wheels I don't think anyone bothered checking the website before launch.

I will admit the looks are growing on me. I prefer the back way more over the front. I don't mind the front as much as I used to. I think part of why I like it is due to the black Chrome and overall blacked out trim. It's a nice touch. And who knows, maybe the 2G TLX will be a home run for Acura again.
Speaking of the blacked out trim, I'm surprised they didn't make it an optional package to black it out, and just made it standard. It's a nice touch.

Haha ya, I don't think Acura did anything to the exhaust to alter the sound. They just use audio like the German brands to make it sound louder inside the car.
In the US, the TLX A-spec AWD V6 is at $45k. When similarly equipped, the IS350 AWD F Sport is at $51k, Q50 3.0T Sport AWD is at $52.5k, C300 4matic sport is at $55k, and 330i xdrive M Sport is at $56k.
Whether that 10-20% price difference is important to you or not is totally subjectively.
