Does the 8 Speed Dual Clutch have a Torque Converter??

Does anyone who is familiar with the TLX 8 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission know if it has a torque converter?
I have read that DCT transmissions do not require a torque converter. It's basically twin gerboxes linked by a pair of clutches.
However, reading the repair notes by my Acura Dealer they said they my torque convertor slippage is what is cause the hard shifts/noise. Huh? Are they just BSing me or do they have absolutely no clue what they are doing?

Yes, the 8DCT in the TLX and ILX uses a torque converter. It's designed to give a more natural feel at low speeds, such as crawling through a mall parking lot. The 8DCT is a very smooth gearbox, what kind of hard shifting are you feeling?

The link below provides a quick over view of how the 8 DCT with Torque Converter actually functions, to supplement theredia92's post.

When the transmission shifts at 20 mph the car will sometimes jerk forward and make a popping sound. I am guessing this is 1 to 2.

The dealership has already confirmed that all suspension parts are good so it's not the suspension.

So far fixes that didn't solve the issue are:
Transmission Flush
Inspecting and Tightening the suspension

My transaxle mount was replace about 10 months ago so it not that.

Dealership has no idea where it's coming from. I think it's the transmission but obviously that would be an expensive fix and they can verify if it's internal.

It's a 2015 TLX 2.4 with 8 Speed DCT.

It's going back to the dealership on Monday bc the P-AWS failure -limp mode issue. Came back so it's not fixed.

Not good. Make sure they also do a transmission update regarding the low speed bumps. It should fix that issue.
