just got delivery of tlx sunday, weather was bad so the dude breezed thru the features. Whats this acuralink thing? I understand some stuff is free and some stuff paid, is it useful , necessary?

 

Not sure what conditions are in the US but everything is free for a year in canada. Covers all sorts of things. download on android or Iphone and on laptop/PC. Maps works very nicely - just search a place on your phone or computer and send to car. There's a concierge feature - just hit the button in the roof and the car calls a real person - who you can ask for directions to something and make bookings for restaurants etc.....

Then there's acura streams which links to AHA internet radio....which is a bit hit and miss....but it is free indefinitely.

Acura link will also remotely tell you tire pressures, fuel remaining, mileage, oil life, door lock status etc on your phone..which is cool but of marginal benefit. You can also lock unlock flash lights and sound the horn from anywhere in north america. cool....but why....I heard rumour it might be updated to work as a remote starter, but don't count on it.

Nope - that button is free afaik. most Hondas will now automatically call emergency services in the event of an accident.
