9 speed rough shifting cured

I've found that driving in econ mode pretty much cures the rough or abrupt shifting the 9 speed is sometimes prone too. I think it starts out in second and short shifts from there. Quite a bit smoother so I plan on driving in econ and switching the IDS to suit my mood or needs. Have a nice day.

There is a bump from 2-3 with my car but it is not really a problem and seems to be less as the weather warms up. But the car does not start out in second gear. It start in first and the shifts are fairly short. Changing modes does not have significant difference.

As you can tell, some of the 9AT's seem to respond differently. Temperature does appear to be a factor and drivers style may be another.

I agree on the temperature comment. It's finally warming up here and the shifts are less noticeable as well. Because, as I have stated before, they are also less noticeable, if at all, when you feather the throttle, that could explain why ECO seems to have that effect. When I use ECO, I tend to be less aggressive on the gas.

Avoiding gears or drive modes is a workaround not a cure. Take it in & see if they can cure it.

It is not a solution at all. I addressed the 2-3 shift glitch to dealer today and was told "it's because you drive in sport mode" and I'm thinking two things to myself...1. Is that Acura's way of telling me it's not supposed to shift smoothly in Sport Mode? and 2. Does Acura think we're stupid? I'm constantly amazed by the things car companies tell customers.

Well I know that mercedes I owned shifted quite a bit firmer in sport mode but I'm not saying this TLX tranny shouldn't shift smoother. When I say a cure, I mean a cure for me because when in econ my car shifts much smoother.

Folks, head over to problems and fixes. There's a lot of info. on this. The trans has a pronounced 2-3 shift no matter the IDS mode. There is a new software update for the trans which has greatly improved this issue for me and others. It is also my understanding that later VINs have this programming from the factory.

Do you know what "later VINs" are? Maybe a manufacturing date?
