2017 TLX 2.4L idle engine noises
Hi Folks,
I tested a new 2017 Acura TLX 2.4L, and found while the engine was idle, its noise can be heard, like "Too, Too Too..", noticeably inside the car (all windows are closed), and if the AC is turned on, the engine noise is louder and you feel slight vibration. When drive it, the noise and vibration level is OK.
How is your car like? Can you hear engine noise while idle? I am considering to buy one.
Thanks.
G.

Direct injection may be a minor factor, did you have a 4-cyl. before?
But that is why V6 version still sells so well, although the diffference in vibration is probably not that important. It is exponential for some people, especially in an "luxo" model.

Does it depend on some conditions, like cold start/AC on etc? When I tried the car (new car), it was a cold start and AC was on. I can feel even the seat has minor vibration when gear is on D and foot is on brake. If I turn off the AC or move gear to N or P, the vibration is smaller. After drive for a while, the vibration can also become smaller. I did try another new car, it was similar (maybe a litter better).
Not sure if this is normal for this type of car ?

I experience the vibration you are speaking of ONLY ifI place the car on drive from a cold start.(that is turning on the car in the morning and putting it on drive right away) I believe it's pretty normal for almost any car to have a slight vibration if one doesn't let the car warm up and drive off because the idle is higher at a cold start. After about 5 mins it's back to normal.
