winter tires

Look at S2000 summoning me.. I'd like to think I know it all..
igowest I read you're in Canada. The Blizzak's are great snow tires, and will help quite a bit when compared to the all seasons. If you had AWD you could maybe get by, but it depends where in Canada you are and how much snow you have to drive in. And 235/45/17 is ok but wondering why you went with 45's? It sounds like you got the performance snow Blizzak's, not the regular studless snow and ice tires? A higher profile, 50 vs 45 would have helped get through deeper snow but it's not that much difference, and narrower cuts best so 235 vs 245 was the better choice! Happy snow plowing!

TL 2012 SH-AWD TECH/UMBER
I didn't know that you could put the 235/45/17 on 2009 TL non SHAWD. Because it's the tire size of actual TL. It's almost 10% of difference, it's a lot
I change winter tires every winter, i live in montreal (CANADA). I spent 2 winters with a 2005TL, and 2 winters (almost) with a 2007TL.
The best tires i had was goodyear ULTRAGRIP GW3.
Worst TOYO SNOWPROX S952, because they seem great the first 5000 km but after they are almost useless. The good point is that they are really good on dry and wet pavement

i am in montreal also, when I negotiated for car I told them to keep the all wheel drive tires and give me winters only. I did not think of nego type of tires and sizes. They seem to be low on the snow, this is why I started this thread. Yes 45's or 50's would be much better.

Update
Well those 45's were actually bad in winter. I called the dealer and asked them about it and they said that because mine was one of the first cars which went out with winter tires, the size are no good. I complained about it and they installed 225-50-17., Not sure if I got screwed with this. Maybe should have forced them to give me 245-50-17. oh well..win some loose some i guess.

Therefore, I went with Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tires in size 225/55R17 in order to maintain the same 26.7-inch overall diameter of the OEM 19-inch HPT tires and not screw-up the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer.
