TPMS sensor replacement

So the dealership wants to charge almost $300 to replace my left tire sensor. Can I get that replace at lower price. Can I also find them at lower price elsewhere.

I think part is around $80 each new. So with $20 unmount/mount the tire, it should cost you around 100$ for the replacement.

If you buy used, it will be cheaper. There is no need to reprogram the sensors. But if you ever need reprogramming, I think any reputable store can do it for you.

Tire Rack : Sensor
had 4x 315MHz Tire Pressure Sensor @38.00 per
added when I bought snow tires and rims thru Tirerack
http://www.tirerack.com/tpms/results...dvance+Package

At least that was one for my snow tire rims and I doubt there is a difference in the stock rims however you can always ask them thru their chat

Nice thing about the Acura you can switch tires rims and sensors and the car finds the new ones in a short time without any reprogramming

That dealer is ripping you off. Make sure to get the right TPMS module.

It's a dealership, so not necessarily ripping you off but their prices are higher.

Sensor has a new retail price of $118 with it being sold for ~$80 discounted (online OEM stores)

They're not going to install a used sensor in a customer's car, and they are going to charge them full price. So that's ~$120 right there. Then you have to remove the wheel, remove the tire, replace sensor, install tire, balance wheel, bolt wheel back up. Wouldn't surprise me if they're quoting 2 hours of labor.

Two hours of labor (~$70/hr probably) + $120 sensor = $260

Just be aware that buying the sensors used can be hit or miss. I know someone who bought 4 @ $18 each from an ebay seller, they were ok at time of installation but dead within a few months after. Had to buy a new set, so he got 4 new ones at Napa for very cheap and had them installed at a tire shop, only to find out afterwards they could not be integrated into his system. According to the tire shop it was the wrong incompatible sensor part. In the end he bought the sensors that the tire shop sold him, and returned the others back to Napa. If providing your own parts, ask the tire shop to verify compatibility by scanning each sensor before starting the installation, otherwise you may end up paying multiple times for labor.
