Suggestions on "How To Research" Winter Tires
Fall is coming and I'm looking to purchase Winter/Rain tires on my AWD 2014. I live on a steep hill in Portland, Oregon. So occasional snow, but lots of wet winter roads.
Recommendations on how to research the latest batch of Winter Tires; within and outside the forum?

Tire rack? Also just search the tire brand along with the model and usually you will find reviews from multiple sites.

Run the studded, the blizzaks are nice, but there is no comparison to metal on the road.

Thanks to all that have responded.
Just to refocus, we are more likely to see cold rain on any winner day in Portland, but looking for a choice that will work if it snows.

Here are the passenger car tires that Nokian makes.

A friend of mine had the WGR2's on his X5 and used them year round. The thing was a beast in the snow.
I have the Hakkapelitta R SUV on my wife's Grand Cherokee for winter. They absolutely destroy the stock Goodyear Forteras that came stock on vehicle.

In his case, Oregon only permits studded tires on cars from Nov 1 through April 1. Many states differ in legality ad well. Not likely a huge issue but I'm from Michigan and usually run my snows either earlier or later than that depending on the year. When the alternative is getting stuck in snow or ice on summer tires, then you can see why I would be worried.

Another vote for Brigestones in the winter. Have been using them every Winter for years.

I bought the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 245/45R-18. A bit wider than some had recommended.
Today, I drove from Newport on the Coast back to Portland with temp starting at 35 and ending in the low 20's. A mixture of rain, then rain and snow and then snow, snow and more snow.
Saw other cars slipping and sliding, but the AWD and snow tires made it seem like just another day. Still I drove at a reasonable pace as I'm am amateur who grew up in Hawaii.
After four hours, came the real test, climbing 800 feet up the hillside to get to our house. Reports of other neighborhood cars stalling or failing to try. But in 6" or more of snow, the Acura TL did not even hesitate.
I'm a happy camper who is safe and warm at home tonight.

Congrats!! AWD with dedicated snows should prove to be nearly unstopable.

SH-AWD w/Pirelli Scotto II snows
This thing is a TANK on treads, my wife and I wait until the snow is nice and thick and then go for a ride.
Unstoppable, but also the TSX w/FWD and same snows is pretty decent too. Most don't realize that regular tires are too hard below 38 degrees F.
Just make sure to take your snows off when the temp gets above 40 on a regular basis or the treat will wear very quickly.
