How to make this setup work?

Hey guys!

I'm in love with these Vertini Dynasty wheels! But I don't know how to get started. I have a 2013 Acura TL sh-awd, I know that my bolt patterns are 5x120 and the tire size that I want to go with is 20" but for the x"8.5,9,10.5", I don't really understand much. That is why I need help! What would be the recommended offset for an acura tl sh-awd?

These are the wheels I really want to go with! Any help and info would be awesome! Once setup is complete I will be posting photos! Thanks guys!

those are very nice looking cast wheels.

those values you posted above are the width of the wheel, so depending on how flush you want them to be against the fender, and how you want to play with your offsets, the choice is yours.

go check out the fitment thread and pay attention to how flush everyone goes, some like it in line, some don't mind a bit of sink, some even have some poke. that will give you an idea.

also check out the wheel size calculator on here, extremely helpful for playing with offsets.

unless you can get custom offsets.. the website does not tell you what offsets these come in.. you will need to get what offsets are available and come back to us.

This website has the offsets for the different widths. 19x8.5 et35 is going to get you pretty flush at stock height. Are you planning on lowering your car? If you do, the wheels sink in a bit so you have more room to play.

Sorry, missed that you're going with 20". Same thing though (20x8.5 et35).

8.5 width is too weak.. if i were you id go 20x10 +35 all around

if you want to go a bit lower.. +25 would be good too

20x10 et38 seems like it'd poke a bit at stock height, no? Not sure if he's lowered or not, but might look weird if he's not. I was assuming he's stock height, where 20x8.5 et35 would get it right at the fenders. If he's lowered or planning on lowering than yeah.

Hey there I'm at stock height, not planning to lower it either. So would 20x8.5 et35 be a good to go?

8.5 +35 is not right at fender.. its tucked in..

your tires will probably make up for most of the space depending on what size tires you get..

Hey pot, so do you recommend 20/10 35 all around then? Even with stock height?

Here's how 20 x 8.5 +35 will look at stock height. Keep in mind these are 255 series tires as opposed to the standard 245 for that size wheel.

Hey bronco, so is there a purpose to having a bigger width of a tire? Sorry i don't know any of this. Why didn't u go with standard?

I like the look of a beefier tire, and since I was downgrading from my sticky summer tires to all seasons I wanted more rubber on the road for the SH-AWD.

It depends on who you ask and what their opinion of "flush" is...but the wider tires help.

your wheels are not flush, tires will make it flush.

there is a difference between the two. comprende?

LOL...

1) People don't drive with just wheels, so why even post that the wheels are tucked and the tires make it flush
2) Those tires UCF posted don't bulge out much. If anything, the tires make them poke a bit (look at his leveler). The wheels themselves go flush to the fender
3) 20x10 et38 is going to poke completely, wheels alone without tires

Yeah, I might do the same for tire size due to cause winter gets nasty out here in Minnesota. So then 20x8.5 offset of 35 all around would be good to go for wheels? And for tires do the 255 series?

Yes, that will work...just keep in mind you'll have to roll your rear fenders with that tire size (if you remain at stock height, or if you lower and get a rear camber kit).

Also, don't forget your hub centric rings!

So I was talking to an element wheel agent and they have a set of the ones I want. 20x8.5. But the offset is 40. Does it mean it will stick out more?

Let's say I go with stock size on the tire would I need to roll my rear still? Where would I buy my hub centric rings?

Stock size tire (245/35/20) and you'll be fine...no fender rolling needed.

As potz said, you can buy the rings on ebay. However, the place I bought my wheels had them so you may want to ask. They should know the exact size you'll need too.

Also as potz said, the lower the offset the further the wheels stick out. The OEM wheels are +55.

Thanks for the info. So that said 245/40/20 20x8.5, center ring should be good to go? And no rolling is needed. Does that sound right?

245/35/20 would be a better size, 40 series on a 20 inch sedan does not look good. makes your car really tall

Sounds good. So then my tire should be 245/35/20. Does the offset of the wheel have anything to do with the tires then? Offset on the wheel that I want is 40 if I wanted to go with the 20x8.5.
Thanks

^^^No, offset only plays a role in tire choice if you're going with an aggressive setup...a really low offset and you would likely want a more narrow tire so there's no rubbing.

^^^Yes, that setup will work with no modification to fenders!

What tires are you looking at?

What would be best recommendation? Where I live it snows like crazy during the winter time. So maybe all season that would last me
Year round for awhile?

Unfortunately since I live in FL I can't really comment on all season's performance in snow, but I'm running on Falken ZIEX ZE950 all seasons and they perform great in dry/wet (i.e. rainy) conditions. They also have minimal road noise and a treadwear rating of 500.

I recommend Toyo Proxes 4 Plus - all seasons.

I personally use seperate winter tires, but i've heard a few friends go on (and on...) about how good they are in the winter, so there's that.
