H&R Require Spring Compressor?
H&R Require Spring Compressor?
Did any of you guys that installed the H&R springs on your AWD TL require spring compressor to get it on the OEM struts?
...and no. The answer is not "get coilovers" so don't even bother.

Yes you will need a spring compressor to remove the oem springs without killing yourself. Putting the aftermarket springs back on you may get away with only needing to apply your weight on the top hat to start the nut before tightening with a wrench and Allen key.
I always used a compressor when installing lower springs. A little extra work but it's a guarantee. Plus you already have the compressor from removing the oem springs. Dropping it huh? Nice!
Still considering it. I have H&R's sitting in my trunk ready to be installed but still debating. It's either install these or keep the car stock.

Ah ok. I'll have to grab a compressor then. Weird, every other lowering spring I've installed on other cars like TSX and Prelude that I had before never needed a compressor.
You would've had to use a compressor to get the oem spring off but possibly not to put the lowering spring on since they're sometimes shorter in height. You can buy cheap spring compressors at Princess Auto.

We use a wall mount compressor. There are a less effective solutions like the units rented out by Autozone but they seem to work for most. To do it safely you should get a proper spring compressor. No one wants a coil spring sticking out of their stomach.
Well just installed it today. To anyone that's wondering... you do not need a spring compressor at all. To remove the OEM ones, they barely pop off. Putting the aftermarket H&R's I had no issues installing it without a spring compressor. What a waste of money renting it lol.
