Discount Tire versus my TPMS's ...
Just a heads up:
Had some Michelins installed on new stock Acura rims at Discount Tire, and of course had them switch my Acura TPMS sensors over to the new rims.
They hand the keys over, and I am on my way home. Or so I think.
The TPMS warning light is on, and it is saying the right front is low (26 lbs) and the other are looking 'slightly' lower than they should be (30lbs). I get out and visually inspect them, and the tires appear to have air ( almost impossible to tell the difference between 34 and 26 visually). I immediately call Discount Tire back, and tell them what I am seeing, and ask if I should turn around and bring it back.
The manager tells me that this is normal, and it may take several miles for it to reset, and it may not reset until the ignition is turned off, and back on. "Okay", I say.
Welp, by the time I get home, I am driving on 4 flat tires. Not a good situation, clearly.
I call them again, and of course they say bring it back. I fill all of the tires to 40 psi, and quickly jump in and drive back. Tires down to about 15psi by the time I get there.
As you may have guessed, they installed the TPMS incorrectly.
Moral of the story ...
1) I should have had my pressure gauge in the car, and not sitting next to the compressor at home. (Just topped off my wifes tires the night before, and used my gauge). Without it, I was 100% at the mercy of the TPMS, and Discount Tire.
2) If you have Discount Tire swap your sensors to new rims, please TRUST what your sensors are saying, and not what Discount Tire is saying.
I actually really like our local Discount Tire. I'm just hoping driving on the some severely under inflated tires didn't cause and damage. Also hope having the tires popped on and off the rims a couple of extra times doesn't have any negative effects either.

this is why i dont give my business to american shops like discount tires or american tires.. heck sears, costco, sams club and pepboys dont even get my business.. i go to the asian shops where cash is king and they dont tax on cash payments... plus mom and pop shops value reputation as large american companies dont.. so the smaller shops do better job

how can you incorrectly mount a TPMS? it only goes in 1 way..... As a "TECH" that does this for a living.. you would expect him to do it properly everytime..
just a thought for you.. ive never had a car with tpms till this 4g tl and the first time i swapped out my wheels i mounted the TPMS myself. If youtube can teach me how to do it properly.. what makes of your tech guy?

You're right ... it seems like a pretty simple thing to get wrong. It was explained to me that he put a gasket/seal on incorrectly, or in the wrong order.
They were embarrassed. Everyone has a bad day once in a while I guess.
I just hope my tires didn't incur any damage from driving with almost no air, and then being removed and installed an extra time.

While I certainly agree everyone has a bad day once in awhile, I agree with carbonTSEX and potmilkz. Discount Tire needs to throw you a bone and do something to protect you in case something does come up down the road. Hell even if for just your time and aggrevation.

like i said.. demand that you get new tires.. tell them that you do not feel safe with these tires since they have been driven on flat. Sidewalls crack very easily after you drive them while deflated.
this is what you should be afraid of..
inside sidewall
the outside of the tire can look perfectly fine, but inside could start to shred

yes everybody does have bad days.. but also need to pay for their actions as well.. demand new tires.
