2012 SH-AWD Harsh ride
Just picked up a 2012 SH-AWD AT base, and finding the ride unusually harsh.
It rides firm, and can't soak up even small bumps. Seems like every bumps is transfered right into the seat. Cant even drink a coffee without spilling.
Car has 205k Km, no other noises over bumps. Shocks are not leaking.
It passed safety at Acura last week.
Is this type or ride expected? I was expecting a more luxury type ride. I am thinking the shocks may be worn and need to be replaced? Any other thoughts?
Thanks.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the stiff ride is pretty normal. Did you test drive it first? The 4G has a stiffer suspension than the 3G did. If you wanted a more cushy car you probably should have opted for the RLX.
You could try replacing the shock assemblies but when I replaced mine at about 120K and it increased the stiffness. I find it ideal since I prefer the decreased body roll and tighter cornering. With the 3G I had to get coilovers to tighten up the ride. The 4G is tight enough that I don't feel the need to go with any aftermarket suspension. But yeah, you feel every bump in the road. Some people pay $100's for that (or even >$1000).

A big component might be wheel and tire choices, too. @White does your TL have the base model 17" wheels with 245/50R17 tires, or something bigger with lower profile tires?

It has the 18"s that come stock on the AWD. Tires have about 70% tread but are 4 years old and W speed rated.
i am going to swap them out for Michelin's in the fall.
I've noticed as the weather is warming up(above freezing) the ride seems to have improved.
