Worn Shocks? Harsh or Floaty ride?

I was looking around and I seem to get two different answers to the question, "What do worn shocks feel like."

Sometimes people say that on the freeway, the ride feels floaty? Whats that about? How does that feel?

Other times, people say that worn shocks contribute to a harsh ride...Does that mean like you pretty much feel every little bump on the road and it makes the ride feel jarring?

The tokico page says both...

So whats the truth? B/c my car feels like its riding very harsh. I feel every single crack in the road...and I rode in another TL and its definitely not as bad...

I would say both.

On bumps, your ride will feel harsh; on highway dips, it will be bouncy as the rebound is improperly tuned.

both. on local streets when your shocks need to react more to the road so you will feel that it's harsher, on highways speeds, there usually isn't potholes and other ground defects besides dips so you'll feel like your floating.
