TPMS problem

Hi, I don't have the oem rimsso I don't have the TPMS anymore on my 2009 sh-awd TL. I'm on 17" wheels in the winter and on 20" wheels in the summer. I was wondering if it would be possible to put them in the spare tire and if I could use only one sensor and relate it to my system thanks.

You have to have all 4 for the light to go out.

you can buy a generic set from ebay/discount tire for around 100 dollars for each set of rims. It's a lot better to have the sensors to monitor air pressure rather than deal with the stupid light. Get them put in when you put new tires on!

Ok but if I buy the oem ones(found some at 200 for a set) will it fit on my low profile aftermarket wheels 20" and on my 17" aftermarket wheels. And If i buy only one set can I change them when I need to change from my summer 20" to my winter 17".

They can be swapped from one set of wheels to another but it's not an overly simple task. Chances are the 20's will have to be completely dismounted to remove or install the sensors and most shops are not going to do that as a complimentary service. By the time you pay to have that done a couple times, you may as well just buy another set of sensors.

the sensors can be fit onto any rim using the "band" method:

That's why I suggest you buy aftermarket ones and save some money. Put them in the 17" rim's and leave the factory ones on the other wheels. That way you don't have to swap the sensors out (involves removing the tire from rim and putting it back on which is $25/tire)

The TPMS system should pick them up automatically.
