Torque Converter Problems?
Torque Converter Problems?
The car bought as USED and almost 40,000 miles on the odometer and I've been searching on this forum for awhile now. I think I got torque converter problem on my car but I'm not 100% sure so If I take the car to Dealer, can they run diagnose on my car? Because If I just run up to them and tell them that I got torque converter problem, I'm sure they wouldn't believe me.
Last time I told them about jerky on transmission and they told me It's normal and nothing wrong with it.
...I still got 2 years warranty on my car so I just want to get it done before warranty expire.
And about Auto transmission fluid? At 40,000 miles should I flush and refill? Sometimes the Transmission kind a jerky. Where can I buy Acura Transmission Fluid? I know if I go to Dealer will cost alot of money.

I just dropped mine off yesterday for a growling/vibrating issue that is most likely related to the TC. Your best bet is to replicate the issue with the service tech and go from there. If it is the TC, Acura extended the warranty for that item as well.
Regarding your fluid, I just go by the MID maintenance reminders. When I bought mine a couple months ago it had around 40k miles and Acura inspected it and said the transmission fluid was still good. They also said the car will alert you when any of the fluids (other than I think the brake fluid?) needs to be drained/refilled. I don't think you want to flush it.

Could be Torque Converter Problem?
coming from the Gas Pedal and Steering Wheel.
- Slipping gear(s)
- The car was shuttering when shifting from 0 -40.
- Growling / Vibrating from 1-2 gear(s). Harsh, hard shift.
I got a 2012 Tl with 60,000 KM on it a month and a half ago. I've been trying to see if I have the TC problem. Sometimes at low RPMs (more evident when going uphill), I feel slight vibrations (at the pedal and steering wheel). They're not very strong, and doesn't always happen, but I do occasionally notice. I don't think a passenger would notice it as much. Does this sound like the TC problem?
Is there any firmware, software update for Torque Converter from 2012-2014 mode?
Anyway I will be seeing my Dealer soon and let them know about this problem, hope they will do something because alot of money car shouldn't feel like this.

Mine is a rather noticeable growling and vibrating near the front of the car that happens at low speeds, around 20-25mph, and around 1500 RPMs. Usually when I'm pressing the gas pedal slightly after coasting or going uphill. I know the 09 - 11 TL's had software updates, which mine had done, but the issue is there. Not sure if the 12 - 14's have any software updates. In either case, if you're not sure and still under warranty, take it in.

otherwise you will need to have your rotors resurfaced which requires removing them from the car. Honda brakes are pretty lackluster and I currently have this issue on my 2012 tl, and havent gotten around to correcting it. If you have the tools the job isnt too difficult if you do your research I did it myself on my tsx.
My plan is to just replace the rotors when its time for new pads as I went with the ebc usr slotted rotors on my v6 tsx and i was very happy with the solid improvement.
I think I have the same problem with my '12 TL 6 speed auto. It takes long time to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I had '01 CL Type S and that thing shifted so much smoother than my new car before and after transmission failed. I talked to dealer and after test drive they said it is normal behaviour. I don't know if I can believe them
. The car is still under warranty, so what do you guys recommend?

Update : I noticed this kind of problem(s) on my car just after 2 weeks.
Torque Converter Problem?
- Growling/vibration/shaking at low speeds and delayed gear shifts.
-
Harsh, hard shift.
The car shudders when shifting from 1st to 2nd,
then 2nd to 3rd,
slightly less from 3rd to 4th,
then smooth from 4th to 5th and 5th to
6th.
- Slipping gear(s) Happened few times.
-harsh, hard, rough shift from 1-2-3 gears.
------------------------------------------------------------
- Rumbling/shaking when stepped on the Brake
Pads and rotors
uneven? Sand or grind the surface?
I bought it certified used. Also, I don't hear any strange noises and there are no vibrations or something, it just takes long time to shift from 1st to 2nd. Too bad for this powerful engine. I like everything else except maybe a little torque steering. '01 CL Type S was kind of better car to drive.

Torque steer

Almost got into accident today because of this Torque steer thing. I thought something were going on with my car. I hated this car even more now.
I have the 2010 model and I'm not sure if I have the TC problem.
Basically when I'm going slow, and I press gas even lightly, there's a slight hesitation then the car revs slightly as it wants to lurch forward.
I just went off the bumper to bumper warranty but am still within the other one (power train I think?/). I'm not sure if I've gotten any software updates either.
Thanks

I'm also having this issue and I'm wondering if the issue will return even after the torque converter would be replaced. I'm just wondering if there's any long term issues of the TC failing or something. I also notice it happen mostly when the car starts to heat up or I've been driving it for a while.
I already knew before I went to Dealer. Anyway I took the car there and told them about the problem but they said they didn't find anything wrong with it, and then I said my car still under warranty so at least can you change the transmission fluid, software update or something? They said if they change the transmission fluid then I have to pay for it because it's more like normal wear (like oil change)..so I'm like f#ck that.
ATF-dw1 for the Acura TL, right? Do I have to go to Acura Dealer or Honda Dealer to get it?

Update :
Acura Dealer want me to Test Drive a 2014 Acura TL with 5 miles on Odometer. Anyway I gotta say that the transmission on 2014 way smoother than my 2012 TL. They want $199.95 for transmission flush on my car. Serioustly? That much?

You can service at an Acura/Honda specialist mechanic. My transmission service is $85 at the specialist, $180 at the Acura dealer, and $130 at the Honda dealer
I just installed Carfax Maintenance App and found out that my torque converter was replaced 3000 miles ago by official Acura service. This wasn't listed in regular Carfax report when I bought the car.
I just contacted one of my local dealers and he said that there was a torque converter software update in 8/12, but nothing since then. He also refuted the existence of an external transmission fluid filter. I mentioned the rumbling/growling and he said that this does sound like a possible torque converter issue. This is driving me crazy!
I don't believe they would charge - it's sort of like a TSB, I think.
