Sunroof left open during monsoon
Sunroof left open during monsoon
Well.....as the title states I mistakenly left my sunroof open in the up position over night and all throughout the work day (it's not my daily driver) , and it rained quite a bit ....The Sunroof now doesn't want to close , it's getting power and does slide down but then opens right back up as if something where stuck in it . Am I totally screwed here ??
The leather and carpet are a whole other story ..

I don't want to spread any panic but instead of worrying about the sun roof (or rain roof - lol - as the previous poster said), you should worry about the air bags in the seats and on the dash and steering wheel. Water, electronics and air bags don't mix well. Advice: take it to the dealer for an inspection of the air bags. It may be costly but safety comes first.
Tonyware makes a valid point..
Also, since it's rain water it's not corrosive, yeah still a major PIA and can do a lot of damage. But at least when it dries you don't have to worry about it eventually eating through anything.
If you haven't already done so get a carpet extractor or wet/dry vac and get as much water out of the carpet as possible and dry the interior as much as you can. If you have access to an air hose you may want to use it to lightly blow water out of any tight spaces
If you have a garage leave it in there for couple of days with the windows opened a little to let air circulate. When the sun comes out let the car it sit in the sun.
Also, pickup a few of those moisture absorbers from Home Depot called DampRid to help pull the moisture out of the car. Leave these containers in the car for a couple of days to see how much moisture they pull out.

is the sunroof stopping as soon as it hits the plastic wind guard? if so, just hold the guard down with your hand until the sunroof begins sliding over it, then pull your hand out before it gets squished. mines been doing that since i picked up my car, and thats what I do lol
