I own a 2012 SHAWD TL and I am experiencing a strange noise at startup. I only hear it on a cold startup. The noise will go away after about 10 seconds and I don't hear it again until after the car has been sitting overnight. Sound clip is attached.

I didn't hear anything in your clip, but I'm on a phone. Is it this? If so, it's the external transmission fluid filter.

I couldn't hear anything in that clip, either. If it's the gurgling noise, the first thread MarcoNorthPolo linked contains a link to the TSB for this issue. The filter replacement and tranny drain and fill is free.

 

Last yr during the winter when i started my car I had growling noise for a few seconds then it would go away. It only did it during cold start ups, It turned out my starter was sticking and had it replaced. Noise has been gone since

 

Even if you're now out of Warranty? Im about 4 months and 20K KMs out of warranty on my 13 SH-AWD Advance. Been noticing this happening with my car recently and am aware there is a TSB for it but wasn't even sure what protocol with TSB is.

 

Is it a gurgling sound that goes away when the car is starting to reach operating temperature? Do you have an AT? If yes is your answer to both questions it's probably your ATF filter.
