Our 09 has started to do this noise recently and not sure what is going on. The steering wheel when backing out of the garage it makes a pop and you can actually FEEL it through the wheel when it does this. I also noticed that the wheel when you rotate it left to right it makes a low rubbing type of noise and not smooth/quiet.

Any ideas what this might be and how to resolve it? Might have to take it in but trying to make them listen for it also might be a issue.

 

Something is definitely not right. And yes take it to the dealer and have it checked out. Had a similar issue with our Maxima and had them give me a formal print out of my complaint so that if something went wrong down the line, I would have a record of the complaint.
As for your TL, it should not be doing that at all.There is something going on with it. Bring it in and have a record of it.

 

i think there is a tsb for this item...something about the steering shaft alignment...
