Heater
Heater
I am concerned that the thermostat for the climate control on my car may be defective. With the climate control set to automatic and a temp of 69 on both sides. The heater just pumps and pumps. It gets so hot in the cabin that I'm forced to manually turn the fan down, lower the temp to somewhere in the 50 degree range or open a window. After about 20 mins of being cooked he car starts blowing cool air to get the temp lower.
Has anyone else experienced this in their 4G TL?

I have an appointment scheduled for Monday to get it looked at. I am dropping it off and leaving it over night so they have can get as close to the same results I do.
other than than that mode I agree w/ the poster above about excel cabin temp control
I wish it was as simple as that but unfortunately not. I had the temp set and the control set to auto.
I got the car back from the dealer. There were a few error codes. There was an issue with the blower. After running further diagnostics everything else came back clean. They think the blower may have been the cause of the problem. I will be able to test the fix in the morning. If the fix worked I will post the diagnostic info my service rep gave me.

I noticed the same thing on mine, somewhat. If the temperature outside is around 30-35 and my temp is set to 68, I noticed it can blow unreasonably hot, causing me to adjust the temperature to get it right. I just thought that the problem stemmed from the car reading the outside temperature and seeing that it was pretty cold out still and so the heat needed to compensate more than if it was like 60 out and I wanted the inside temp to be 68?
So its been a while since the repair was done. It took a while before there was a day cold enough to really say the issue has been fixed, but I believe it has been resolved. The technician found code B1241 – which indicates a problem with the blower motor circuit. The paperwork says that after the code was found they performed diagnostics, checked fuse, checked motor, performed climate control unit self check. Then cleared codes tested the unit. They chalked it up as an intermittent failure and it was not necessary to replace any parts.
Since then it seems to be fine. It comes on hot like it did before but before it starts getting unbareable hot the blower slows and keeps the temp at a reasonable level. Now I can set it at 69 and forget it.
