Detailing matte chrome trim

I have a new 2010 TL that I just washed and waxed for the first time. After washing I ended up with some water spots on the matte finish (plastic) chrome grille and trunk trim. While waxing the painted surfaces I attempted to keep the wax off of the matte chrome but was not successful. I need some suggestions on how to care for the matte chrome trim on this car. Should I just go ahead and wax the matte finish even though it changes the look slightly? Is there a recommended cleaner and/or treatment for this matte finish? I do wax the shiny chrome (plastic or metal) with good results but this is different.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It's a issue that I believe Acura is addressing with the 2012 TL MMC. I would not put a regular (carnauba wax) product on it. If you really are inspired to remove the wax that you accidently got on the trim, I would use Meguiar’s PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner.

Hmmm...I wax my beak and rear trim piece all the time to eliminate and prevent water spots. I don't see any detrimental effects.

i used my pc to put a coat of four star ultimate paint protection on, and ran right over the pieces in question...no issues whatsoever...i would recommend you go back over the trim pieces with whatever wax or sealant you want...

This might sound odd, but I tried cleaning mine with every kind of cleaner or soap I could and still got the water spots, but its not until I take my bare fingers and rub it, then they come out. Doesn't leave any fingerprints either.

The OEM Grill tends to cloud and streak. Not a fan of the material. My 2005 MDX has the same matt finish and issue but since its smaller its not as noticable. I upgraded to Chrome front and back-much happier.
