Squeaking Selector Knob

Hey guys,

Just recently, my selector knob has started squeaking when I turn it counter clock-wise. Most of the Clock-wise turns are silent, but it does rarely make the same squeak. Is there any fix to this issue? What may have caused it? Would it be covered under warranty?

It's a 2012 TL FWD w/ Tech Package.

Hey,

Just came across your post, my selector knob squeaks when I turn it in the clockwise direction and not the counter-clockwise. I took it to the dealer and a new selector knob has been ordered. Will probably get it done this Wednesday.

I see your post is from August, any updates?

Hey man, sorry for the late reply!

I just went in for maintenance in early Jan. They "cleaned" the paddle shifters. They replaced the drive lever, and the selector knob for the NAV. They also damaged the little housing the drive-lever sits on (the little chrome part) so I had to wait a day or two for that to come in. All service was done for free under warranty (My car had 28k miles when I brought it in. 2012). They gave me a sweet ZDX loaner for 4-5 days. Damn, I'm very impressed with the aggressive styling of that car. Painless experience. Honestly, loving Park Ave Acura.

Cool, I hope I get a ZDX loaner I'll find out this Wednesday. My car is under warranty so hopefully there will be no charge.

Mine was doing the same thing. Just readjusted the rubber grip. No more squeak

You did it? I tried pulling/pushing the rubber portion, and it did move a bit, but it didn't do anything for the noise. Dealer replaced it after trying DW-40 or something similar with no results.

^^^^^

Spraying lubricant is only a temp fix. Replacement is a more permanent solution.

Wow, WD-40, oops. That sounds silly.

And yeah. But hey, it was under warranty, so it's all good.
