Side Mirror Issue

Hello everyone I have a 2013 Acura TL Tech Package and for some odd reason my side mirrors are tilting down with a clicking sound then coming back up repeatedly. It’s cold out here around 11 degrees so I’m not sure if it’s the weather that has frozen the mirrors. Is this normal?

Both mirrors are dipping? Or one. When reversing, one of the mirrors is supposed to dip so you can see the ground or curb better, but only if your switch on the dash is on the correct mirror. The clicking happens when the gears inside are dry. It could be because of the cold. If it persists once it warms up, then you will have to lubricate the internals workings of the mirror.

Yes only one dips when you select either L or R, but I know that’s normal. My issue was with the clicking on both mirrors when you select either of them. I assume the gears are drying cause just the other day one of my mirrors was back to normal, no clicking as it dipped down. What do you suggest I use to lubricate the gears? And would I have to take the glass off the assembly to get to the gears inside the mirrors?

When I had my ‘07, I had that problem. I moved the mirror all the way to one side so that you could see behind it, then stuck WD40 in there. Worked like new for a while, then I did it again about a year later. It may still be because of the cold though in your case. YMMV.

Thanks! Ima try that trick once this weather warms up. The snow over here in CT already started to take its toll.

Funny... My passenger side side mirror just started doing that while in reverse. I switched to the driver's side with no issues at least for now. Been wondering if there's ice stuck in there or something.

If you take apart the mirror to expose the gears, you'll either find the grease has washed away(most likey from the elements) or something broken.

I shut the feature off for both mirrors just to be on the safe side. Hopefully in the Summer all is well.
