rough idle/acceleration

my issue is that when my car is in drive and i'm idling with my foot on the brake, my idle is a little rough. my car is definitely not "calm". its not like a violent idle, just a little mild and it definitely not normal imo. it doesn't happen when the car is in park/neutral. also, when my car is accelerating, it is a little rough as well. when accelerating, you can feel the car shaking. my wheels are not bent, they are balanced, and alignment is good. not too sure what the issue can be. thanks

are these with stock or aftermarket wheels you are referring to ...if everything is well balance with the wheels my next guess would be your motor mounts might be worn out and need replacing as it holds vibration coming from the engine if im correct. What about when you put it in reverse

check the rear engine mount as its the one that dampens the most vibrations.

If all the mounts look okay, then it's a good idea to neturalize the engine on the mounts. Loosen the mounts and tighten until finger tight. Place the car from Park to Reverse to Neutral to Drive and back and forth (stop in each position for 1-2 seconds to allow the engine to shift back and forth) 3-4 times. The final time, leave the gearshift in neutral and tighten all the mounts to proper specs.

I just picked up my first TL last week, 2010 base. I have this same issue. I am thinking of checking out the motor mounts to see if that helps. That seems like the most likely culprit since it if was something like plugs, you would feel it at idle most likely.

There is no way your wheels have anything to do with it at idle of course. I have the stock wheels and I get some vibration on heavyish acceleration as well. I was playing around with the paddle shifters and this newfound power i have been without for a couple years.

Vibration under acceleration points to your axles. The factory plugs are great easily until 105K so I doubt it's the plugs.

Put the car in neutral and see if it helps. If it does, your best bet is the motor mounts.

I brought my car in at the dealership to get multiple things check, one of them was the vibration on the steering wheel. They asked me to leave the car for a few days, the next day they told me that they found the issue in regards to vibration and they said that they will replace 3 engine mounts. Diagram below of what they replaced under warranty. (Rubber Assembly, rear engine mounting / Engine side mounting / Front engine mounting-2012 Tl with 24K miles). The car drives great, no more vibrations on the steering wheel.

I'm afraid it may be axles, CV boots/joints right?. Definitely going to pick up an extended warranty. Thanks for the tip. Still love this car.

I don't think an extended warranty would cover this sort of repair. They usually cover complete failures and not partial failures.

Axles are your best bet, but I'd check out the motor mounts too!
