Reverse
Reverse
Hey guys
I have an 09 Tl fwd, I put my car in reverse and it cut off. It's almost as if its not getting gas. Has anyone experienced this or knows what is wrong...I'm pissed its to close to Xmas for major repairs...

Well when I put it in reverse it feels like it wants to cut off when I hit the gas it sputters then cuts off. It happens about 95 percent of the time...I also notice when this is happening all my lights dim in and out..
does the car turn over fine? it is best to just bring to dealer right away so you dont do anymore damage. if it happens 95% of the time.. im sure you can replicated the issue on the spot.
quick question.. was there any repairs done on the car recently? accident? frame damage?

I notice it 2 days ago went to go back up in a parking spa e and it cut off.
Only work I've had done is TPMS I brought it used I've had it since June.
I replaced the battery in the middle of August.
So yesterday I'm playing around with it I put in reverse abs just sat there with my foot on the brake. Watching Ron's go up down like it wanted to cut off but the it kind of smooth out, since then it hasn't cut off but when I first put it in reverse the rpm dips then goes back up..I gotta feeling when I get it to a dealer it won't happen.

Based on past experiences with other cars, it may be the case that when you put it in reverse some wire shorts. Can you look for loose connectors on top or sides and under the transmission? Maybe any wires that look fried or naked or whatever other than normal. Or connectors that are loose and not tight. I had once an issue long time ago with a civic's reverse light sensor shorting out. Just a thought. By the way, safety first. Don't do anything stupid and put yourself in any kind of danger. I would recommend to disconnect the battery if you start touching wires to see how they feel and also if you get under the car to look for loose wires, please support the car safely on good condition jack stands.
edit: also you may want to check the front engine mount vacuum hose line to see if it is good condition with no cracks, from the mount itself all the way to the back of the intake manifold where it gets its vacuum from. Maybe, just maybe, when you put the car in reverse the hose loosens up somewhere along the way or rubs something and causes an intake vacuum leak.
