Redline 0w- 30 vs 0w-20
Redline 0w- 30 vs 0w-20
Hey guys l have a 4G SH AWD been using redline 0w - 20 for a while like it but the engine makes a lot more noise than than my former 3G l used to have that used redline 0w -20 for. I was thinking of switching to 0W-30 or amsoil at that weight what do you think.
Asking what folks think about grade of oil to use is silly, you're going to get answers ranging from 0W-16 to 15W-60. The same thing applies to the brand, it is like an argument about religion, everybody has their own gospel they follow and the rest of us are idiots.
So, long story short, use which ever brand and grade you worship and be happy.

On the transmission side, I just did a 3X3 & filter change with the AISIN ATFDW1 on my CL-S project car a month ago. No way to know what the previous owner had used prior, so I gave this stuff a try.
Good to go, so far.More Information for AISIN ATFDW1 (rockauto.com)
WIth the SH-AWD, use some good 5W-30 and you'll be set. Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance High Mileage from walmart works great with a fram XG7317 filter from walmart. Do an oil change every 5K and you'll be good. Since you have the 3.7L engine with the carbon issue on the rings, you can use a "cleaning" oil like Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (order online, hard to find in stores) and use that. Beware that it'll dislodge any crud holding oil back from leaking in other places such as valve covers, rear main seal, oil pump, etc. I have dealt with this on my MDX and a toyota, the toyota dripping oil like crazy after a couple of starts after the oil change.
