I just tore the shields off too. Super annoying but not anymore.

At some point, I would get this and it will bypass the 3rd cat.

It should not trigger CEL because 3rd cat is not connected to anything based on my research so far.

My 2008 tsx had a loud rattle/ mettalic buzzing noise under hard acceleration coming from under the hood on the driver's side. It was caused by the screw that holds down the intake air filter had come loose and the washer on it was vibrating! Tighten it down and the noise is gone.

Hi vtec.. did u find out what was the cause of this rattle while accelerating uphill?

Call your local dealer and give them the VIN and ask if there are any available software updates. My '12 did this and it was a torque converter software update that fixed it.

I suggest you start at the beginning and read everyone's contribution to this thread. It can take time, but worth it. I know how you feel you want a simple quick fix,
but because we aren't there with you to hear it or experience it there's always the risk that your noise is not my noise or his or her noise. There are many solutions offered up
some are costly, some are easy. There is no single answer, you just have to look in the thread, try the suggestions and see what works.

Winter gas just hit the stations around me and my 2014 TL developed the low octane ping, but oddly only when cold and still warming up, so maybe 2-10 minutes after starting, while accelerating under load. I'm going to try some octane booster and see if that clears it up. I also switched to Mobile1 EP 5w-20 synthetic about 1500 miles ago. The oil is a lot darker at this mileage than my other cars, I assume it's cleaning up some of the deposits left by the factory oil. I'll report back if the octane solves the problem.

Oh yeah, electric cars suck and the jerks that are messing with our gas supply for a political agenda need to be removed from power.

your right I’m in Philly and winter Gas hit here few weeks back & my mpg is already down from normal and the colder it gets the less mpg’s we get
yup the higher they make these gas prices go the more these nut case politicians think people will run out to buy electric cars

I'd take an electric car in a heartbeat for my commute if I didn't have to wait 8+ months for one and pay thousands over sticker.

I agree, I would take an electric car for commuting if it would have the same level of comfort, dynamics and price.

Insane!

Well add me to the list. 2010 Acura ZDX with the 3.7 l technology package etc. Only has 120,000 miles on it and I just replaced the timing belt. I've taken it to the dealership multiple times for checkups and they say it's an excellent shape but I still am hearing that rattling when I'm accelerating from a stop, and usually turning left. Only have ever used premium and am religious about maintenance.

I am also starting to see oil consumption. Is this related? not sure. I do know when I did a cross Canada road trip a few years back I did not consume any oil at all and now I believe I'm seeing some consumption but will be keeping a close eye.
if you run 93 octane or octane booster it will go away
