Problem with Stereo Controls

I've got a 2009 TL and I'm experiencing some bizarre behavior from my wheel mounted stereo controls.

It's happening more frequently now and I'm wondering if it is a big issue or can develop into one.

When I have the stereo playing and want to lower the volume and I use the volume control on the wheel, the volume climbs, sometimes to 10-13 and sometimes to 30-40 before it backs down. Also, there are times when I try to lower the volume and the channel changes.

I'm not sure if it's just because the car was sitting for hours on end or if it's some kinda glitch.

Anyone else experiencing this?

best advice..

bring it to dealer, have them check it out.

might be a malfunction on the stereo unit.

did you spill any type of water into the steering wheel control?

There was another thread about this a while ago -- https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-294/bad-steering-wheel-audio-switch-735460/

My 2009 experiences similar issues, but they reset back to normal if you stop/start the car.

Problem with taking it to the dealer is that they were never able to reproduce it on demand.

There was a similar problem with my Honda Odyssey and the steering wheel controls. I think it turned out to be the wires binding in the steering column. It was fixed under warranty by installing some wiring clips and the problem never came back.

I have the same issue in my '03 CL-S 6MT, but it's almost 10 years old now and way out of warranty. Maybe they'll fix it for cheap...yeah, right.
