Problem with my OEM alarm
Problem with my OEM alarm
Hi guys, as I was driving yesterday I got a error message indicating my left rear door was open so I stopped and to insure myself that was close, well last night my alarm went off multi times and when I got to the car I noticed my interior light was on so that mighted trigger the alarm. I checked the door latch and it was normal and the alarm went off again after an hour. I called the dealer this morning and service tells to re check the door
Should I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes? Have someone experience this before ?
It has passed 2 hours and alarm has not trigger but don't want to wake my neighbors tonight.

With the doem light switch in the center (door) position, check the pinswitch for the rear door. Probably little rubber covered knob between the outside of car and carpeted interior. Push it in and out while watching the dome light function. If the dome light is on all the time or not comming on accordingly, this is your problem.
I have had these fail on coastal purchased cars before (salt corrodes these switches because they are cheap).

When I spoke with a service guy he told me by disconnecting the battery won't fix anything but I'll try that option tonight when I get home and disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
Since you have seen the "LR door open" message once, and saw that the doom light was on when the alarm was going off, it must be the LR door pin switch binding and making intermittent contacts.
Like others have said, push the pin switch in and let it bounce out a couple times, and make sure that it can go in and out smoothly.
Door switch is a lot easier to troubleshoot than sensors such as radar/ultrasonic proximity sensors.
If the pin switch still acts weird, replace it.
