Is this a potential problem with my '09 Acura TL?
I have an 09 Acura TL. When accelerating from 0 to about 40 mph, and when my rmps are between 1500 and 2000, my car's engine will go from a natural engine sound to a deep humming sound during accelerations and right between 1500 and 2000 rpms. To stop this deep humming sound I will either have to let up the gas, or accelerate past 2000 rpms then it goes away. Has anyone ever heard of this, or had their car do this? What can the problem be, or is this normal? I took the car to the dealer and the mechanic said it was normal. How can something like that be normal if it just recently started? I'm really confused about this sound.
OP, you should post this question in the 4th Gen TL forum at: https://acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=123.
Car Talk deals with cars other than Acuras, as a general rule.

so they wont be able to help you
if you post in the dedicated 4G section...people with (GASP) 4G TL's will help you

There are 4 generations of TL, with each having different issues and solutions. You may notice that I'm the only poster in this thread so far with a TL-- I can replace the HFL and change out the PS O-ring in my 3G TL, etc., but have no clue if that knowledge would translate to the 4G TL.

Low RPM harmonic rumble or drone is not a known issue in the 3G TL, so the 4G TL forum would be the best place to ask.

Your problem sounds like the Torque Convertor TSB/Recall thats been plaguing everone over there in the 4G section. There are many threads there on it and it starts off with a software update then the TC replaced (most common) and then the transmission if all else fails. I hope its a recall because if its a TSB its an expensive fix and as an extra bonus, many people that have had the repair are noticing a 2-4 MPG decrease in fuel economy.
Honda and their damn transmissions.
This is precisely what the torque converter recall is supposed to address. Basically your transmissions shifts into a higher gear a little earlier than is optimal for minimized vibration and noise. At low rpms (in the higher gear) you get a bit more noise and vibration than you are accustomed to. The fix is a software update from Acura at no cost to you (even if out of warranty period) and the new code delays the upshift until engine rpms, after the shift, will be high enough so that you won't experience the droning sound you mentioned.

The software update is not a fix all for the droning /vibration problem.Other members have still experienced this problem after having done the update, the next step done by the dealer is a tranny flush,if this does not work then futher tests are carried out to determine if the torque converter has to be replaced.
This has been covered in several threads in this section of the forum already.

Should mention that this was not a recall. The "recall" word seems to be used whenever the manufacturer has a known issue with a recommended fix. Recalls are usually involuntary and are so because they're safety related. Bulletins, on the other hand, are items like this vibration/transmission thing, are voluntary and can be charged for. Bulletins are there mainly to help the technicians, and give them updated part #s or procedures with the particular issue.
The software fix will address your problem. If it doesn't, make sure your dealer did it right.
I had mine done and it did NOT fix the issue. I brought it back and they replaced the TC. That did not work so their next step was a tranny replacement. Acura Tech Service stopped that before it went too far and asked the dealer to check the software update one more time.
Guess what? The first time they did it the software "never took". This time they made sure the software update was successful and the problem went away totally. They could have saved themselves a TC replacement if they did it right the first time. Almost cost them an unnecessary tranny replacement too!
