Mirrors turning brown

Hey everyone,

Wondering how hard it is to change the side mirror on a 2012 sh-awd (just the glass not the whole assembly)
they're starting to turn brown and don't want to pay for labour if it's a relatively simple job

Hit it with some vinegar before you go dismantling.

Very easy to remove, you tilt the mirror towards the car all the way and use a flathead screw driver to pop the mirrors out of the slots that hold it in there. Carefully remove the glass because it's still connected to the wiring harness for the heated mirror feature (ironically its the reason why they turn brown). Disconnect both wires, and too install do the opposite of what you did to remove them but you wont need the screw driver just pop the new glass in place.

The 3G TLs have the same issue; the thing is, it isn't the use of the heating which causes the oxidation. How do I know that? There are several reports in the 3G threads on the issue where owners of cars since they were new, never even once engaged the heating element in the mirror and yet they still oxidized.

I guess acura's just uses cheap mirrors then, which is annoying because the only place i can get the glass for a decent price is from the dealer. Hopefully these one's last longer.

I had to replace the Driver's side mirror a few weeks ago on my 2006 due to this same issue; I bought the glass from an online dealer site and it cost me about $50 including shipping. Not unreasonable for a new OEM part.

Sounds about right; I opted to pay for shipping instead of a two hour drive to my local dealership.

If you can post some pictures, that would be great. I had them replaced on both sides so I hope to get a least 3 more years out of them.
