So I dropped my key in the gutter and it was during a storm, it was raining and the rain water took off with my key. My doors are locked and the key code number is in the glove box. How do I get in w/o breaking a window? If I bought a new key fob, is there a way to program it to the car w/o having to tow the car to the dealership and getting ripped off by their high cost?

 

Dang man...I really hope you got a second key or valet key somewhere...I had good luck with replacing a key on a 01 TL using Street Keys, now http://www.keylessride.com/. Got a key cut and programmed for under $80. They have fobs too and instructions for programming - but you can probably find that on this site. Unfortunately that wont help your current situtation...sorry!

 

dealership after showing proof of ownership can cut u a key after lookin at the vin ## and ask for the brake code u use the key to open the door and turn the ignition on but won't start the car
and then use the brake code to start the car and drive it to the dealership so they program the key
the brake code is a series of numbers u enter with the emergency brake pedale or handle to bypass the immobiliser system and it works for one time only just to start the car to get it to the dealership ,,, if u shut it off u gona need a new code .... the only benefit is that it saves u the tow truck fee and maybe that dragging to get it on the truck while in park that puts a strain on the transmission
