Leather Seats

I wanted to get some opinions on whether I should have my leather seats replaced. Recently I have noticed that my leather is starting to crack on the drivers side and I only have about 11k miles on the car. I spoke to Acura today and they said the leather seems to be prematurely wearing and that they would replace the seat. My only concern is I have black interior and I was worried that there maybe be issues with matching the color. I dont want the two seats to look odd if the color is a little off. Not sure if I should just keep what I have or let them replace it. Has anyone had leather replaced?? and what was the outcome as far as apperance??

Haven't done it but I would say black is one of the easier colors to match.

If it is bad enough I'd go ahead... just be sure they do a good job! I had the leather back replaced by the dealer on my first 09 TL due to premature wear. In the process of replacing it they scratched the door sill and the plastic pillar (between the front and rear door) - presumably when they took the seat out or put it back in. When they got the car to repair the paint on the sill and replace the plastic pillar piece they got clear coat on the leather bottom of the seat... so they had to replace that. After that the rear backside of the seat kept popping off. They ended up ordering a new one of those - told me they were only designed to snap on once (?). I was at the point where I wanted a whole new seat, but in the end they gave me a brand new car - for some other issues that are even worse than the seat issues.
My new car has a slight loosness to the drivers seat - you can feel it move slightly when you come to a stop, then accelerate again. It depends somewhat on how I am positioned in the seat and I have learned to live with it... I was/am real hesitant to have them fix it (although they have offered to).

Some times you wonder whether you should let them fix something or live with it and eliminate the chance that they mess something else up like in your case.

They replaced one of my front tires (defective hop from the factory) and managed to scratch up the wheel so bad but they replaced the entire wheel w/o me asking. I didn't see how damaged it was either. They just said I have a new wheel to match the new tire. At least they told me. They could have kept their mouths shut and I wouldn't have known.

Sun Damage

Acura will replace your leather as long as your seat is not damaged by the sun. They call it "sun damage". it's like a fine print. But as long as you are a regular customer at their service department. It won't be a problem.

Can you take a pic of how bad it is? Mine have some cracking on the drivers side, which I'm shocked by as I clean and put Lexol on my seats. I did notice the leather was much softer on my 4G than my 3G so maybe that is part of the problem?

Supposedly in the SH-AWD we have Milano leather, I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Noticed this also. I have an 09 SH-AWD. I've been cleaning an conditioning the leather regularly but it seems to be unavoidable. The leather seems thin and too pliable. The dealer is willing to replace the leather but I'm gonna wait until I get at least 2 years into owning the car. Another issue i have with fitment of the leather is on the front seats side bolsters. There seems to be a dent along the edge of the bolsters (along the stitching).
