knocking sound in the rear when idling

it doesn't go on forever, just for a few second after the car comes to a complete stop. it sounded like it was coming from the rear quarter panel area. anyone else experiencing this? is this just the usual rattle and squeaks we have to live with the 1st year model or worth a trip to the dealer?

I haven't heard that sound pretty much rattle / squeak free - soooo much more so than my 04 3G (only turning up the radio volume would fix that car)

Open trunk. Establish wrist control.

Mine stops when I let my mother-in-law out. Seriously though, you don't have to live with rattles and squeaks in any first year car. I would check the trunkwell for anything rolling around. Take the cargo floor cover and foam out and anything else and drive around for a while to see if you can isolate it. If not take it in.

I had a friend that had a Ford Explorer. She took it in because there was a rattle in the right side of the dash. They couldn't find it. She was telling me this as we were driving to lunch. I found it - was a flashlight in the glove box. My guess since she's blonde so was the technician at Ford.

I can hear the gas in the gas tank moving around when I come to a stop when the tank is over 3/4 full. Maybe that's what you hear. It's very faint, but I can hear it.

The sound comes from the ceiling. It's the area in which the moonroof opens into.
Try opening and slamming your door a couple of times and you can pinpoint where the sound comes from.

Ive already taken the car to the dealer 3 times. It's a waste of time. Absolutely nothing accomplished..

Shortly after I bought mine, I kept here a faint rattling from the passenger side. Very noticeable if turning and going over a bump. Drove me nuts because it just sort of "developed". I checked the glove box, under the dash everywhere.

Well one day, I'm riding along with the wife and she says, "Oh, I think I left my sunglasses in the compartment thing a few weeks ago, I haven't been able to find them." She opens the sunglasses compartment, pops out her glasses and I haven't heard a rattle since

noticed again this morning, it seems when the car comes to a complete stop something in the rear or underneath the car rattles a bit before settling down. i'm taking it to the dealer this week.

went to the dealer yesterday and test drove with one of the techs. you'd never guessed what the noise was, it was the gas rolling around in the tank just as the car comes to a complete stop. the tech told me it's a known issue with Acura, actually the noise in the MDXs sound much worse than my TL.

But you didn't hear this when the car was being driven? I'm starting to hear what you are describing after one month ownership of an AWD. I don't want to go to the dealer if I don't have to. Like others above have said, waste of time.

I'm going to fill up the tank tonight and see if it's the gas sloshing around - shouldn't with a full tank.
