Just dodged a big bill

NTL FWD, < 25K miles. ABS/VSA lights were on last week, driver door lock was making a grinding noise.

Turned out the ABS/TCS/VSA modulator was bad, the part 57111-TK4-A14 along costs like $1.5K. The lock was due to a latch assy, which is cheap.

They also noticed that the battery failed the test. Voltage was 12.62V, measured at 451 CCA @ 70F, rated at 550 CCA. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

I have been using the same dealer for years. In general, they fix issues in a single visit.

I expected Acura to be more reliable though.

One quick question: while they did bleed the system as shown on the paper work, the brake definitely feels a bit more spongy, the pedal travels a lot longer than it used to, do I need to worry? Or it will come back to "normal"?

Thanks.

When doing a typical brake fluid flush & bleed of the 4 calipers & lines, how does this task get the brake fluid out of the ABS system?

Thanks. The invoice showed 2 12oz brake fluid, does this look right to you? Or it's definitely not enough.

Thanks.

Sometimes they use a vacuum pump to bleed the brakes, i find this to be not as effective as using the 2 person method (one pushing the brake pedal, one managing the wrench).

Another observation was when I can step down the brake pedal a few inches after pumping the pedal a few times, without starting the car. Is this a good indicator that there is air? I tried the same on my wife's car, hers barely moved. Anyway, calling the dealer. Thanks.

24oz is enough

if its "spongy" then there is air in the lines.
