Jerking when accelerating
Jerking when accelerating
Hi Everyone,
My AWD TL has been doing a back and forth jerking motion when I let off the gas moderately. The rpms go up and down with the car feeling like it doesn't know whether it wants to be in 1st or 2nd. Eventually after if the pedal is pressed with the same pressure it will even itself out. This issue does not happen however when I ease the gas pedal in.
The other shifts in other gears are smooth

Have you gotten the software update and the transmission fluid flush? This issue is common on the 4G TL and the software is updated and fluid flushed to correct the "judder" as acura calls it. The fluid change alone fixed the issue on my 13TL! If those have been done and you are still experiencing the issue, you may need the torque converter to be replaced. Acura did extend the warranty on them!
Yes, got the software update for the transmission and the 3x ATF flush along with it about 5000+ km ago.
I've also had a check charging system light come on and off for a few seconds. That also led to the car trying to stay idle in Drive but shut off. It only happens really on a long cold start but will eventually not shut off anymore after a few restarts.
It'll then drive but have the jerking as I mentioned before. Do you think this could be alternator related? Not getting any Check engine lights thrown.

sounds like the battery is on it's last legs if it is older! As well make sure the connections to the battery are nice and tight as they can loosen over time.
The ECU will reset anytime power is momentarily low such as during a weak battery starting. That erases idle and you need to do the idle relearn process which takes a few minutes and is pretty simple. That should prevent/stop any stalling or issues.
Since you had the update and flush done, take it back to the dealer and have them do a snapshot of data from the transmission and that will let you know if the Torque converter needs to be replaced or not. They should cover the repair!

I've got an AGM battery that I put in around December and it was until about a month after that I've start seeing the "Check Charging System" light go on and off. About once a week rarely. Until I started seeing the problems I'm having, is when I started seeing the light more frequently.
The Alternator measures just above 14V with a multimeter. I have yet to test it without a professional diagnostic tool.
I've also performed the Idle Relearn Procedure like you mentioned as well and the car does seem to idle better across the gears. I will check again later and on a cold start to see how it idles.
The back and forth jerking however is still there when accelerating from a stop.
