headlight washer delayed... angle of mist fire? (CDN Models)

Canadian model 2010 SHAWD 6MT.

How it's supposed to work:
When I'm washing my windshield and the headlights are on, the headlight washer automatically sprays down the headlights.

MY ISSUE:
When I wash my windshield (with lights on) there is a significant DELAY in when the headlights are washed vs the windshield. Here's what it does:

1) I notice my windshield is getting dirty - pull the wiper lever to activate the washer
2) the windshield gets sprayed, and the wipers automatically wipe the windshield three times (approx 3-4 seconds)
3) Wipers go back into rest position
4) suddenly i see/hear mist fly up from the headlights as there is a delay from when I push the button. This is a pain in the ass because usually a lot of the mist ends up on the windshield again... which is no longer wiping, so I'm forced to again activate the wipers to clean off what the headlight washers have done.

CULPRIT:
I'm fairly sure this isn't some design flaw, and it's probably one of two things:

1) the delay is too long and hopefully can be adjusted somehow so that it sprays as soon as I spray the windshield... potentially caused by the doors/covers for the sprayer opening too slowly??
2) the delay is intentional (although I'm not sure why) and it's just the angle of the washers that needs to be adjusted so that they don't end up partially spraying my windshield as well.

Any help appreciated!! I'd like to know more about others' experiences before I mention it to the dealer at next oil change. Thanks.

The headlight washer activates twice. Once when you activate the windshield washer with headlights on and then after a 4-5 second (?) delay. The logic I guess is to first soften the mud on the headlights and then the second spray shot to remove it.

Maybe the headlight washer nozzels are aiming a tad too high. Sadly there is no process to lock them in the open position to adjust them.... but I am sure the dealer may have a few tricks up their sleeve (unless you get the lazy/typical answer "sir, thats the way its designed").

I have the same experience, imo this is not a very useful function/design, and i have been looking for ways to deactivate the headlight washers when headlights are on.

^yep. unless the wind blows it away.
I've heard that some ppl have pulled the fuse to disable it altogether.

The same fuse is for other things too so thats not a good idea. If you want to de-activate the headlight washer, drop the bumper cover and disconnect the electrical connectors of the two washers. That simple. I haven't looked underneath that far but maybe you can disconnect them without removing the bumper by reaching in there with your hand... careful, safety first.

This is how the spray system is designed.

Nothing we can do about it, unless we start messing around with the factory wiring and risk voiding the factory warranty.

Sorry my bad, mixed up the ground diagram with the fuses, since the ground is the same for a bunch of other things like VSA. The fuse is a 30A, number 2-5 under the hood. But thats just the motor, not sure if its also the motor to open that washer door. So, try at your own risk.

I've found that if you just hold the washer for a bit longer, the wipers are still going when the second spray hits.

I'd have to hold it down for like 4-5 seconds... which is pretty f-ing long. that's a lot of fluid to waste.
