Hi! I just purchased a 2014 TL Base Model with 107,000 miles. Is it worth getting an extended warranty? I purchased one at the dealership (and I never purchase warranties), $2500, 60 months/100,000 miles. Is it worth it? I have a few days to review and cancel. My biggest concern is the transmission. We have an 2010 Toyota Sienna mini-van, and the transmission died at 150,XXX miles, used low-mileage tranny was about $3000 installed. Car drives great, no issues, my mechanic checked it out. Super nice car! An upgrade from an 04 TSX. How long before you start having transmission issues? I have seen some posts that typically the tranny will last 250,000 miles. My thought is to cancel the warranty, roll the dice. I keep my cars a long time. The cash could be used for later repairs outside of the 5 years.

Also, after I bought the TL, the dealership told me there is only 1 key. I think this should have been mentioned alot earlier. How much does an extra key cost?

I got an Acura Care Extended Warranty and it was worth it. I got 3 years extra from a TL 2009 model that I bought in 2011. It covered a drive shaft issue (whine), door handle electronics and windshield wiper motor. Because you got a 2014 model, I am going to think that they got most of the issues out but you never know. If it's some other 3rd party company, I would check the conditions on repairs. For Acura Care, they are very more likely to not say 'no', if you complain to Corporate.

I would try to get an extra key. It's nice because you can program the 2nd key to the memory seat settings of the 2nd driver. I have a TECH edition but I don't know if there are memory seats for 'base' model.
