Check Emissions System P2646

Hello ive recently bought a 2009 Tl AWD (Automatic 150 xxxkms) about 7 weeks ago. Its my first acura i love the car but the other day on my way home from work i was doing about 65 km/h and gave it about half a punch while coming into an increase of speed limit and the car took the accelaration for about 1-2 seconds and it sort of bogged at around 5000-6000 rpm the SH-AWD logo came up on my dash along with the engine light saying check emissions system. I was a minute away from home so i took it easy and got there, shut the car off and started it back up after a few minutes and the SH-AWD logo went away but engine light remained saying check emissions system. So i got my father to come over with his obd code reader and it gave me p2646: "A" Rocker Arm Actuator
System performance or
Stuck off bank 1.
I cleared the code, drove it for a few days nice and gentle and as soon as i gave it a shot of gas it did the exact same thing.
I had did some research about that exact code when it first came up and from what i got it could be the engine passages are sludged up and need to be cleaned. (Not sure)
Rocker arm actuator may need to be replaced.(maybe?)
Oil may just be low (nope its fine)
Wiring harness / connecters to actuator may need to be replaced. (Maybe?)

Im just wondering if this is a common problem for the acura tl AWD 4th generations.
Has anyone here ever ran into this code before?

Same here

hey I’m in a 2013 mdx, but I had the exact same scenario/jerky slow down/ sh-awd warning/ persistent check emissions. Mine happened when I went to pass someone and all of a sudden the car clunked and gave me the warnings. I was able to complete the pass, but my awd “live indicator” was showing only front wheels getting power. When I turned it on again awd was good but Check Emission was still on. I think my oil was low, I added 1.25Q, reset, and it’s clelared. Tomorrow I’ll gun it and hope it doesn’t come back!

Reviving an old thread

To the OP - did you end up solving the issue?

i had the same thing happen to me today. I’ve had my 2012 SH-AWD for three months and I floored it for the first time today. Exact bogging down thing happened along with Check Emissions and SH-AWD. Restarted and SH-AWD was gone. Unhooked the battery ground and check emissions is gone. I want to fix the problem, though. What is the problem?

thanks

Yea it turned out to be low on oil. Acura's are known for burning engine oil. From what I remember I use to do oil change every 7000km but at around 3500-4000 kms after my oil change I would check it and add a quart or so of oil. When the car reaches a certain point on engine oil it wont allow the car to reach high rpms but ya once I kept my oil level maintained (once I found out Acura's burn oil) the car never did the problem again.
