Extended Warranty

I just bought a 2000 TL. I have heard about the transmission problem associated with the cars. I am also aware of the extended warranty to 7 yrs/100000 miles. I have 63000 miles on my TL, and here is my delimma. I can purchase an extended warranty to cover most/all of the mechanical components of the car with a term of 4yrs (from date of warranty purchase)/111000 miles. The cost would be 1600 bucks. As I mentioned, I have heard of problems with transmission, but I have not heard of any other problems with the car. Should I pay the 1600 bucks or save my money.

Opinions please

How does that answer his question? I would say skip the warranty, but put the $$ in a CD or money market account where it gathers interest. Kind of like an emergency fund. If you need a repair covered you have the cash. With the tranny warranty extension I don't see the warranty paying for itself.
