not sure about the 4th gen, but on every other honda i have had if you pull the inside door handle (as if to open it) and push the lock button while pulling the door handle the doors will lock and remain locked

*NEVER leave a car running while unattended. If it's on, someone should be in the driver's seat.

No anti-idling law where you live? there is in my state. Of course, the air here is very unhealthy to breathe.

The only thing my Ford Escape had over my TL was the little number pad on the door. It's VERY convenient to exit the car and just lock it from the outside while it's on; especially in the winter.

This is precisely why my wife wants to replace her aging Expedition with another Ford product. I'd rather see her in an MDX, but she loves that keypad.

I did this for years with my Hondas, but never tried it while they were running. I always did this to lock the car (prior to key fobs) so I didn't need to put the key in the door to lock it.

There are two ways to do this. The first way is to exit the car and use the key in the drivers door key slot to lock the doors. The second way is to exit the car with the drivers door window open, close the door and then reach in and use the door lock switch on the drivers door panel to lock the doors then lift up on the auto close drivers window switch to close the window (if you do this though make sure you have a key with you to unlock the doors because the remote will not unlock the doors with the engine running).

I would much prefer the car not able me to do this than the car allowing me to leave my keys inside and lock the doors while the car is running.

As mentioned a remote starter will solve this problem. Problem is with the remote starter once you open the door, the car will shut off making you restart it again manually which is an anti-theft feature.

the problem is that when the car is running, the computer disables the oem remote fob buttons, so there is no communication, how ever even with a remote starter if you have the keyless system, the vehicle will turn off the second you open a door when remote started, lol the is no take over option available
