Exhaust baffle?
Exhaust baffle?
Whats up everyone?
So i have done some digging around the forum and think i found my answer.Hoping to get some concrete input on this and also some opinions on aftermarket options.I have had this god awful annoying rattle that sounds like its coming from right below the driverside that occurs the loudest upon acceleration in a lower gear so low gear low rpm.I came across a thread that stated that the rattling metal sound is actually the baffle inside the J-Pipe that has most likely rusted out and coming apart and its a very common problem.I have a 2010 Acura TL-SH.Sounds like it makes sense can anyone confirm that? Would the easiest and cheapest solution be to change out the J-Pipe? I read on some other threads there is a much tougher and better designed J-Pipe that has since been available for this car? I purchased this car this past summer and has about 80K miles.I have been considering upgrading the exhaust as well and its just one of those things where i cannot decide what to buy because quite honestly i am not that knowledgable with aftermarket exhaust systems and what is worth buying and what isnt.I would imagine everyones answer would be its all about preference,so if i had to choose a preference i would say id prefer a deep toned sounding exhaust, but not a fan of very loud raspy make my ears bleed loud.Guess i could use some input on a few options, but before all of that would like to confirm that rattling noise is what i believe it is.Thanks everyone!!

It's probably a loose heat shield on the catalysts, it's very common on the MDX and some TL's. MDX folks put a cheap band clamp around it vs paying for a new heat shield once it's rusted. If it's not rusted, you may have to tighten up the bolts/nuts on it.
