Basic maintenance tips and tune up advice anyone help me?

Hey guys I'm not exactly car savvy. I was hoping anybody could help out with certain maintenance recommendations mileage wise. What do I need to do to tune up my own car?

Well that would depend on the year, milage and trim of your car (fwd or sh-awd)...

How many miles are on the car? Here's a few things I can think of off the top of my head:

1. Brake Fluid change - every 2-3 years (1-2 if you live in cold or humid climates)
2. Trans Fluid change - every 20-30K miles depending on how you drive
3. Timing Belt - 105K miles

I bought the car at 89k. I now currently am very close to 139k. Since I've had it constant oil changes on time always. Tires bought new about 2months ago. This last oil change I havent done and it's gone past 680miles. That's what the dash says. This upcoming weekend I plan to do a oil change and tune up. Sparkplugs, oil filter, oil change, cabin filter.

Since I've had the car I havent done any of those! Is that super bad? Long term damage to the car? If I do that soon as possible will that be fine? What are the dangers of not doing that

Assuming you haven't done the timing belt - I doubt the previous owner did it at 89K miles - you need to take care of this immediately or risking a catastrophic engine failure

Can a timing belt be done by a coworker mechanic type or more recommended to use the dealership. Like is it difficult to the point only the dealership has tools for that? Again sorry the dumb question guys. Highly appreciate everyone that's posted on this thread.

I have seen quite a few fellow AZers done it themselves. I have access to a friend who is a full time mechanic at my local Acura dealership, who in general offers help for less than 50% of what the dealer asks for. So I went that route. In general, it's just a typical Honda engine, you can find plenty of instructions/videos online.

Can he? who knows.. only he can answer that

but if he wants to, he can try and loosely follow this DIY from the 3rd Gen: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...ics%2A-784622/

J series engines are basically the same across the board
