I have a 2009 Acura tl sh-awd and sometimes when I press the unlock button on my key every door unlocks but the driver door. The first time I try opening it, it makes a noise first and then it does not open. It gets annoying as I have to get in through the passenger and manually unlock the driver door. I am assuming this is a safety feature of some sort? how do I avoid this from happening?

 

If it makes a noise, but the door won't lock or unlock electrically, then the lock actuator is dying.

 

is the lock actuator covered under the standard warranty that comes with the car? My car is still under the standard 4 year warranty but not sure if the lock actuator is covered

I had the same issue, its definitely the lock actuator. I had the driver door actuator replaced on my 2010, and now the two rear doors are need new ones. Both make funny noises when unlocking the doors. I think its a fairly common issue. I actually had to have it taken in twice because the part wasnt in stock the 1st time, but if your advisor is any good, they will order the part when you schedule so its there when you come in.

 

Well my warranty runs out in November so should I just tell them that my driver door has the problem frequently and all the other doors have the problem sometimes also? If so would they replace them all? I don't want the other lock actuators going bad when my warranty is gone! Would end up costing a lot to replace $$$$$. Also I'm the 2nd owner will the warranty still apply.

 

You can ask the dealer, but if it isn't a known issue (such as blown speakers) the answer will prob be NO.

 

The only mod I have is white led license plate lights, would that void the warranty? could the problem exist because of those led lights, most likely not right? if so I should switch them to stock before I bring it in?

 

I just took my car in for the driver's door lock issue....and low and behold...the damn think worked like I didn't have an issue for 2 weeks. It took everything in me not to go ape crazy.......

Thinking back its funny...no matter what we did...it would not duplicate.

I hated the one service guy trying to explain how the keyless entry worked, like I just got the car.

 

I'm dealing with this now... it happens occasionally to me, so I brought it in to Acura, and they can't replicate it. I even had a time where I would open the trunk, then unlock the doors, and nothing would unlock. Then I would close my trunk and it wouldn't close and beep like the key was in the trunk, although it was in my hands! SMH

 

Very annoyed to hear this is an issue, my old Tsx had several of these replaced and i hoped Acura learned their lesson, i guess not.

 

Are you aware you can open the windows with the remote?
Just open the windows, reach in and unlock your door.
I realize this does not fix the real problem.
