Crosswind noise

I've been living with this for a couple of years, but thought I'd ask if others experience a howling sound coming from the back when driving at highway speeds on a windy day?

It's not the propshaft issue, I had that fixed. This is a howling or whistling sound ("Ooooooooooh") coming from what sounds like the rear window. I think it's coming from the left side, but passengers think it's from the right. My daughter in the back seat couldn't ID the source.

It only happens in a crosswind situation, and it has to be pretty windy (15+ kts). I have driven the car upwards of 85MPH at times on calm days and don't hear it. I ONLY hear it in crosswind situations at normal highway speeds.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and if you figured out what it is? Could it be the way the wind comes off the sharkfin antenna?

Have you completely ruled out the rear side windows? If not, try lubricating it with some shin etsu grease.

Yeah... that's good stuff. I used it for a squeaky window track and to keep the sunroof gasket lubed.

I need another windy day to see if it might be the windows. I need to have someone else drive and I'll ride in back.

you may be missing a body plug! Check the underside of the car!

Also you can buy some weatherstripping to put in the gaps between panels like on the new TLX. I ordered some and am waiting on it for all 4 cars (7-series has it standard)

Gaps between panels? Weatherstripping? What do you mean?

So there's a gap between the front fenders and doors, front door and rear door, rear door and 1/4 panel, etc.

The 760 and new TLX has this rubber that attaches to the inner door edges to help seal these out and keep noise down:

you can see it on the right edge of the door here for a 760:

Cool! Is this what the marketing folks refer to as "triple door seals"?

I'm obsessed with quieting down cars, too. I went to town on my last car (2005 WRX) See here: Sound insulation

The strips that you ordered, are they from Acura/Honda or is it generic stripping?
