Check TPMS System

Hi all,

For about a couple of days now I get a CHECK TPMS SYSTEM error in my MID and the TPMS icon blinks for a little bit.

Then, when I cycle through the MID screens to see the pressure on the tires, none of them are registering.

I thought maybe the batteries are dead in the sensors but all 4 at the same time ? Could it be something else ?

Thanks

For me, only 1 was not working and the error came up. When I switched my winters, I noticed one of the TPMS sensors were not working and after a couple of days, the check TPMS warning came up. I don't drive too much so it took about a week for the error to show up. I was checking it when driving and wondering went the sensor would finally show up but it didn't.

I had extended warranty so it was covered and replaced by dealer.

Do you know if when looking at the tire pressure screen, only the not working one was not registering or if all 4 were showing no reading ?

Once the TPMS error comes up, you will not know which one is the problematic sensor. I had an idea which one because of my recent summer to winter tire change. The dealer confirmed it probably via the OBD port.

I spoke to my dealer and they told me they needed a "computer" to diagnose this. I asked if it's an ODB and they said it wasn't.
I have an bluetooth ODB with Torque. I'll check tomorrow if I can see something or not.

You don't need to plug anything into the OBD port to diagnose this. Just go to your local tire shop and have them scan the sensors with a TPMS diagnostic tool. It will take 2 minutes and will probably be free.

I had this issue with one of my summer wheels. Driver front wouldn't register a pressure and eventually it gave me an error like this. Went out and bought this sensor that is compatible with the TL: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...444774&jsn=341 I've driven around for about 10 miles, how long under it starts registering pressures?

According to the service manual: "drive the vehicle for at least 40 seconds at a speed of 15mph (24 km/h) or more"

i believe his issue is different than one sensor going bad. because none of his sensors are registering.

i'm searching because i'm having the same problem on my 3G

This is just one sensor as it registers all the ones now that my winter wheels are on. In the TL it seems like either they all work or nothing does.

I had the same issue after I switched from winters to all-season earlier this year. One of the sensors didn't work so I got the Check TPMS message as well. But I was able to see the readings of the other tires, while the one that didn't work showed me "--" I just ignored it until recently Acura was dealing with my oil consumption warranty repair and they replaced it. No labor charge, but the part was like $70.

One of the sensors are dead and you need to replace a least 1 of the TPMS modules. When 1 stops working, at some point, it will give you a full warning for all 4 tires. Only a scan will determine which one is not working.
