Car Wouldn't Start

I had a bit of frustation with the TL yesterday so I thought you guys could get a laugh at my expense. My wife and I were getting back into the car after church yesterday and when I hit the start buttom nothing happened. The radio and accesories would turn on but the engine didn't even try to crank. I tried again making sure the brake pedal was pressed and still nothing. I then though perhaps the signal from the remote wasn't strong enough so I the remote in the slot. Tried a couple more times and still no success. I tried to pull the key out and it was stuck for some reason. Then I looked down at the shifter (AT) and realized saw that it was in drive. I had forgotten to shift to park when I turned the car off earlier that morning. The key wasn't in the slot then so I had no indication that the car was still in drive. Man I felt like an idiot.

Has anyone else had a brain fart and done something stupid like this?

ive done it a few times,, but i have never left the car with it being on drive..

i did however parked, got out of the car to grab something and got back into the car, tried to start it and pretty much figured out that it was on Neutral the whole time.. i spent like 3 mins trying to figure out what went wrong..

but next time, just remember to HEAR your car locking.. thats the only indication that everything is fine.

These cars have so much TECH built into them - its probably happened to everyone.

Everything has to be just right to start, maybe for security purposes.

Lucky that you didn't park it on a slight slope and the car could have started rolling after you left (I'm assuming you hadn't set the parking brake here). Guess God was looking out for you

Actually you don't have to walk to far away. I have left the car in aux, closed the driver's door and then walked back to put gas in, and the car beeps.

That's nothing. The other day I park my car at work, put the cover on( I always cover my car) and forgot and left the motor running! It idled for 8 hrs. I still cannot figure how I did that one. I even dusted the car off before fitting the cover. My engine is super quite at idle I guess. Even after I closed the door I did not notice the beeping. When I entered the car to go home I notice the car interior extremely hot. Then I noticed my diplay saying, " no usb connection". I was like, WTF, only THEN did I realize I left the engine running!

It was a flat parking lot so I didn't set the parking brake. I don't recall hearing a beep but this car tends to beep a lot so I probably disregarded it. I will listen better next time.

Not an Acura story. But I had driven my wife's Isuzu Rodeo a few years back and came home and pulled into the garage. That style SUV had a separate glass window in the back and the rear trunk door could be opened separately. I opened up the window, opened up the swinging rear door and took at the groceries. I then pushed down the glass door and closed the trunk door. Oops wrong sequence! I smashed the entire rear window with the door and glass shattered and went everywhere. I was finding glass pieces for a year in that car! Worst part is the the wife has never let me forget it.
Love the site guys, by the way.

Years ago my wife left her car running all day while at work. Great way to burn through a tank of gas.
